that was a brutal call on Creighton at the end. IMO he should have passed on that call and they should be in OT
It was a foul and it has to be called. Congrats to SDSU.

Well we will agree to disagree on that one Irish. No one would have said a word if he had passed on it. Maybe he had his left hand on the shooters body but the guy got a clean shot off and the ref bailed him out on the Miss.
I do agree though that SDSU should be congratulated. Great win for their fans and that program

That's a bad rule. Shot should count if it doesn't touch the backboard.

And could be propitious timing for SDSU as well, if the rumors are true about their wanting to join the Pac 12. Would be happy to gain the Aztecs and lose Mick Cretin.

Also, anyone else notice that Dutcher's background is a lot like Tommy Lloyd's? He was an assistant at SDSU for 18 years, and this is his first HC job. He's quite a bit older than Tommy, though.

In my head I was replaying the no-call on our last inbounds pass-prayer as we choked against Illinois. The guy guarding Frye had his hand balled up in Frye's jersey holding him down away from getting to the pass. But Channing did not have possession and he wasn't in shooting motion. I thought the call against Nembhardt was correct.

I also recall Channing getting bonked in the head.
Dang Mustafa. Choked and ended up throwing the ball to Hassan.

I think the debate is IF that foul should have been called at that point in the game.
Some would say you call a foul in the last minute like you do in the last minutes. Others say to let the players decide the game and not the whistle.
With so much contact in the game of basketball to call that with a trip to the FF when he had a clear shot at the hoop and seemed unaffected by the left hand seems like a call he could have passed on.

If it had been Tyger fouling Kriisa that's one thing.
Kriisa fouling Tyger is another.

3 out of the 4 teams are going to their first Final Four ever. It's just one of those crazy years.
Fuck UConn though. Rooting for anyone but them.

It wasn’t brutal. The defender grabbed/pushed the shooters midsection in mid-air. A foul is a foul - sucks for Creighton it happened at the end of the game but I’m glad this imaginary “swallow the whistle” didn’t happen.

But he was affected. Watch how the guy lands after the shot. He was all twisted like someone grabbed and pushed him in midair, like what happened.
You don’t land like that normally.

Exactly. Very easy call to make. He definitely lands sideways.

I thought it was a smart foul.
The defender was beat, it was a pretty good shot, the foul was not immediately easy to see, it caused the shot to miss…
… if called, it stopped the clock, forced the shooter to make foul shots, and possibly allowed for a final desperation play.

If we played D like SDSU would we have any energy left to play O?
Great question!
I was just wondering about that watching their win. Would we prefer to root for SDSU or a team like it all year, even for a slightly better chance to advance to the FF?

So I guess Conference USA was the premier conference in the land. Charlotte won the CBI, UAB and North Texas in Semi Finals of NIT, and Florida Atlantic in the Final 4. Huh? Might want to bet FAU to the Chip.

When our guards dribble into the glue pot at the top of the restricted zone and pick up their dribble with their back to the basket I get psychotically nervous. Other teams' guards have so much cool in that space. Same with entering the glue pot and keeping their defender on their back and floating one up. sigh

The FAU/SDSU game was marred by some of the worst refereeing ever in a major NCAA contest! The entire low was disrupted, some real fouls were missed, and I thought FAU suffered the most for it….
