Best way to get money for the whole conference is tournament shares
Best way for small conferences but not super small conferences to get tournament shares? Make sure your top 1 or 2 teams wins the conference tournament and gets a 11 12 13 seed.
This format is how you ensure it
He makes a good point!
And then…

Big 12 court is so ugly and low rent
There it is.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
My only question about that court is…..why? What’s wrong with just a good normal hardwood design. What’s next? Chain nets and an indoor outdoor ball

I think we just locked up at least 4th in the big 12 and a double bye. BYU plays Iowa St. still so one has to lose. Just need to beat Ariz St.. Now let's win all three and leave no doubt who is number 2 in the conference.
Need to win tonight to lock up a top 4 seed.
I think Arizona only needs one win in the final 3 games. Does not have to be tonight. At least that is my understanding. Someone who knows more can way in. Might as well win tonight and the other two.

You are correct sir.
it looks like arizona would need to either win out or split + get some help from isu to earn the 3 seed. ttu pretty much has the 2 locked up with their end of season cupcakes. feels like a big gap between getting a 3 or a 4 seed at big 12s, not just because we'd have to go through houston to get to the finals, but because as the 4 arizona would supposedly have isu, byu, or ku as the 5 in the quarters
I would like another shot at BYU. We also matchup pretty good with Houston. I don't want to play ISU because I think they are really good or Kansas since the game is in their backyard. I don't know how many fans from Ariz will be going to Kansas City in the 1st yr. Happy for a double bye and a little rest.

Happy for those things as well. As to the first bit: 1/10th the number who went to Vegas.
Some of that is the newness of the site and that it isn’t in the same cosmos as Vegas when it comes to desirability; but I’d bet that some also is the sense among the fanbase that this team can’t win this tournament and could easily lose its 1st game.
A big part of Vegas being McKale north was knowing that you were highly unlikely to get a 1 and done from the Cats.

True on the winning at least one game part. The best part though was the strip being full of U of A fans everywhere and then playing craps with the 5 Oregon State fans at 2 in the morning or Pai Gow with UCLA bros at 10am before the games got going
Kansas City is cool especially the area right by the arena and the College Basketball HOF. But it is no Vegas.
Family may check out Kansas City next year but too much personal stuff this year going on

vegas was a great tournament location but i'll say that the power & light district in kc is pretty decent. definitely not in the same league as LV, but some friends went there last year for an ncaa event and said it was a fun enough place to travel in to for a few days. if boz was still around, we might see him parked at one of the janky riverboat casinos, haha. t-mobile arena is probably about as good as it'll get, given that the big12's equivalent of las vegas is probably branson and the geographic center of gravity is stillwater. no thanks to both.

I think our fan base as well as Kansas's fan base will need to get over this is not going to be a cake walk anymore. I think Houston is a better foe for Arizona than ISU. ISU is back to full strength and was previously a top 5 team.
it's only been a season, but it must be jarring for ku fans to see the team 7 games out of first and behind 3 teams that weren't even in the conference just a couple of years ago

Cats open as a 17.5 point favorite.
Don't see any update on Quaintance's right knee injury situation, other than "questionable" and "game time decision." Wouldn't think it looks too good after missing two games, but Hurley's pretty desperate. Regardless, even if he played, that probably wouldn't move it to any better than a 10-point line. The ASU beat writer for the Republic opined that they might not fire Hurley, as he can recruit, things can change quickly with the portal, and they could probably only attract an unknown mid-major type. The RIchard Pitino suggestion is a great one, but New Mexico draws about as well as we do, and absolutely nobody is going to draw well in Tempe unless they win about as much as we do, which ain't happenin' there, so it's a vicious cycle. Really question that he'd make that trade to potentially tank his career like so many others before him. That's unless ASU is able and willing to throw stupid money at what's almost always been a losing proposition.
The Arizona Daily Star’s Michael Lev reports that the eight-year deal has a total value of $44 million, or $5.5 million per year. Arizona’s current 10-year deal provides $2.33 million per year.
Arizona’s Nike deal is believed to be the largest Nike apparel deal in the Big 12, Lev reports. Arizona is one of 11 Nike programs in the Big 12.

You can probably say that about most American companies.
I do agree NIKE got us on the cheap for many years but having the top payment in the XII while more than doubling our payout is nice

I think he said over at Scheer's site a while back that he heard Nike didn't have the money for Arizona when this came up for renewal. Obviously something changed.

How can it go back to a place it was never at to begin with? It's not exactly a central location either.

Dont think so. I have never heard that from anyone. I have definitely posted in the past that I was tired of Nike doing us dirty when it came to uniforms and was pissed that we weren’t Jumpman. Imo both football and hoops kits were trash for nearly 2 decades.

Your sense that I was anti-Nike is definitely accurate I just dont ever remember anyone telling me that and it feels like a strange opinion to come up with on my own. I dont post there anymore either ftr. Glad we got a deal done but shoot for a brief time in history Scott’s new deal for the Pac was the best on the planet as well lol so its TBD for me. Maybe it will be a better relationship now that we arent in the same conference with Oregon.

Kansas City isn't exactly a tourist destination. Las Vegas is ranked #2 in the US as a tourist destination. Kansas City isn't ranked in the top 50.
I can see where Kansas/KSU/Iowa State & OkState would not want to move it. After those 4, however, the closest school is TCU which is easily a 9-10 hour drive. Baylor/Houston/TTu/UCF/Cincinnati/West Virginia/Colorado/Utah/byu/asu/UA fans are going to have to fly in. If you are flying, why not fly to Las Vegas???
And don't give me the weak excuse that Las Vegas isn't a "Big12" town. Missouri doesn't have any Big 12 teams in it anymore.
From a media exposure standpoint Las Vegas is the Sports Mecca of the US in this day and age. If you were to poll all of the fanbases I'm pretty confident that LV would beat out Cowtown any day of the week for holding any sort of tournament.

You can’t defend threes but Arizona’s defense has been really really bad the past 4 games or so.
Most of that is lacking guys who can actually defend. Some of it is perimeter players who consistently do the wrong thing and/or can’t or don’t give effort. In rewatches it is blatantly obvious. I have never seen a team with so many perimeter players trailing ball screen actions and the miscommunication between the players is plain to see. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lloyd has given up on the D at this point. Sometimes I am left to wonder if the 2 Arizona defenders thought the other was going to do the opposite of what they did (i.e. switch vs going over) while neither was what Lloyd actually wanted.
ASU had like 4 scholarship level players last night. Beyond the game being important for B12T seed; it was the Cats final home game, vs a semi-rival, on ESPN, and it was coming off a blowout loss.
The roster has been a borderline disaster all season. Lloyd imo has done a great job of coaching it up to 20 wins and a top 4 finish in conference. But his job assembling this roster was just as shitty as his (in-conference) coaching has been great.

The current Nike Replica ‘97 shorts are fantastic and high quality.
Would another brand be able to make those, had we signed with them?
Looking forward to our team wearing the rare Kobe 8s that I can’t buy.
