I'm with Harvey, I think the touted Bowl benefits are overblown, however, far less so when it comes to the 2nd/3rd stringers getting time in a higher capacity with the first stringers. It's best for the younger classes to end the year on a highly contributory note. Sets things in motion for the spring and onward.

Well I would rather be known as a perennial bowl program so going every year is important I think to recruits. It may not sway them but we already struggle with the stigma of a non rose bowl program and it is used against us in recruiting so for me, scheduling 3 cupcakes and getting 6 wins and going to some dogshit bowl works for me at this time

Pathetic I know but man I hate losing and we are what we are. Doesn't seem to matter when it comes to AZ football unless someone will raze the litterbox and build a taj mahal for the program.

And I thought I was the only one who viewed it this way... Or maybe you were suggesting that those of us who characterized it that way were too harsh.
It's our reality.

And way too many people think this is the approach that will pave RichRod's way to some big job out East.

Getting away from the whiny tantrums, currently announced bowl matchups:
Sugar-Oklahoma state/Ole miss
Stanford is already in the rose obviously and Alabama will be in the cotton bowl semi-final and Clemson the Orange bowl semi-final

Final projection for me: crappy bowl in NM or Independence. Hopefully Arizona or atleast Dallas so it's not in a total missery location and we get the full practice for Scoob and company.

Perusing all of the bowl projections out there it breaks down like this for the UA:
New Mexico 40%
Independence 40%
Arizona 20%

Players definitely do not want to be holed up in Tucson for the holidays. One of them said they think it is ALB which he said was not the greatest experience.
When someone said it had to beat Shreveport, he responded that Shreveport was a fantastic bowl. Well run and very entertaining for the players

Fiesta would be fun if it didn't start at 11am...I'll enjoy at home when I wake up at that time....also lots of grumbling about NM bowl...what a gross bowl. Sums up this year. But what irony about dumping it from the Pac and now getting stuck there again. It's a bowl that needs to die.

Which sucks. Was hoping we'd have a good 4-5 weeks off to get healthy for a bowl, not 20 days. The new Mexico bowl is just awful. True road game against an amped up unm team that hates us in possibly the coldest bowl location besides Boise and it is literally the first bowl game. It's at noon Arizona time in 13 days. And going to a bowl in Albuquerque for the team is basically just going to a colder worse Tucson where everyone hates you.

It's official. Heart of Dallas gets Washington. I feel bad for the players and the parents that are forced to go. Terrible way to send out the seniors.
And how did cactus get Scummies? Thought you couldn't pick 6-6 teams over 7-5 in the picking order. Wasted my day keeping track of this.
