On Tuesday a campaign of mine from last summer won a Best In Show award at our yearly industry gala and then this afternoon I closed a REALLY big deal. Second biggest in total yearly revenue to come out of our office, ever.

I've gotten congrats emails from our whole management team, including our CEO. Feeling like the King of Fuck Mountain at the moment.

I was recently offered a promotion at work. I have mixed feelings about it. I'll have to move to the Phoenix area (bad. Lived there in college and hated it), but I'll be making about 20k in base salary more than I am right now with the possibility of more in bonuses if I can meet certain targets. I'll be piloting and designing a new career and technical education program locally with the hope that we can expand it nation wide. This could mean more promotions (and a possible relocation to the Chicago area in the future) in a company that is gearing up for an IPO in the next couple of years. I have absolutely nothing tying me to Tucson except for the fact that I love living here, so I've accepted. It could be really lucrative in the future, and it should improve my standard of living in the short-term.

Other than the heat during the summer you must know there are cool places to live in the Phoenix metro. I live in Central Phoenix, and love it, but have gotten to know the city much better. Central Phoenix is best between 7th Street and 7th Avenue, and McDowell to Northern. Although there are cool pockets everywhere, like around the Biltmore. Tempe by Tempe Marketplace is a cool place to live. They just reopened Tempe Town Lake. I also like the Arcadia district. It's a very kept up area. The places I would avoid are Gilbert and Glendale for their bigotry. But that's just me. Mesa is spotty and I don't like Scottsdale at all (too haughty). For me, as a general rule, east is better than west. And I'd avoid Phoenix, south of downtown, like the plague.

Been an awesome week in Oregon and I'm sad there's only 48 hours left. But I'm so happy to be married to the most wonderful woman and person I've ever known. We definitely made the right choice by eloping and sharing this with just each other then having a reception in Tucson later this summer.

Costco has been having 2 person kayaks for $399.99, seem really nice for the price. Non fishing though, sorry Greg.

Seems really nice, but a bunch of dang Obama lovers.

Carmichael is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sacramento County, California, United States. It is an affluent suburb in the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area. The population was 61,762 at the 2010 census.

For an affluent area it sure has cheap home prices.

shit, the average house looks like it is in the 350k-400k range. that is a $2000-2500k mortgage monthly. if that's cheap i'm screwed!

That's cheap for Cali! Zillow says my home is worth $344,669. That's a 1800 sq ft tract home built in 1959 in a blue collar non-affluent town 41 miles from where I work.

My mom grew up (well after 1964) in a house in Corte, Madera in Marin County, California. It is just north of the Golden Gate by a couple of miles. The house she lived in as a kid was just your average 3 bedroom. 1700 sq foot mid century tract home. It was an average, middle class, working neighborhood then. I don't think the house cost more than $20,000 in 1964. When my grandfather died in 1993 the house sold for $288,000. As of 2016 this 52 year old *meh* house is worth $1,200,000!

Just crazy.

Yeah it is crazy...even in a few years when I have lower debt and my wife and I should be making into the 6 figure range I doubt my price range will be much more than 200k. 250k at the extreme high end.

You will. Mine's filled with context-specific, velvet-glove punches that will sound nice to anyone who hasn't been inside the thing. Maybe that's how to do it.

Agree with this year, never burn your bridges, esp. in today's world.

LH, find some U where you can wear shorts and polo shirts like we do at CPSLO.
