10 years isn’t nearly enough time. 100 years wouldn’t be enough.
So sorry for your loss John.

Well it's Brook's turn.
I've always loved dogs but not Schnauzers. I always considered them a bit too fiesty. My wife brought Brook to live with us when we were married 12 years ago. This sweet toy Schnauzer was such a good lovable dog.
She loved to go fishing and would stand beside me all day on the front of my bass boat looking into the water waiting for one to bite.
She loved to go everywhere else too. We were in Utah a few years ago and a doe came up to her in the campground. Brook tried to make friends but that deer tried to stomp her.
She'd been struggling with heart issues and a few days ago just couldn't lay down for more than 5 or 10 minutes. Took her to the Vet last night and her pericardium (heart sack) was full of fluid. Doc said to live she would need periodic oxygen and quality of life wouldn't be much. We chose to let her go.
Harder on my wife than me, but these damn dogs bring so much love and joy and it's heartbreaking when they leave.
Only a dog person could really understand.
I've talked to my wife about it. When we're ready I want to go to the pound and rescue a new joyful companion.

Didn’t want to open this thread last night.
Now it’s morning and I’m shedding a tear for the family of a VERY good boy. It is just totally unfair that dogs don’t live as long as we do.
RIP Milo.
Proof that God is fallible.

For all those I’ve missed, beyond words I’m sorry. July is a hard month for me. July 1st will be Rowdy’s birthday, and she had her seizure or stroke on July 1 of 2022. I still see so many pictures and videos of her and have so many wonderful memories.
Praying hope and happiness and new found memories with new found pups for you all.
My Lula is a stunner and I love her dearly…
Named after Lula from Wild At Heart, she is just as chaotic and rambunctious:

My bad and misspelled proof as prove. Was simply pointing out the dogs should live as long as their owners. Wasn't trying to ask anyone to prove anything. Hope that clears it up for you.

Makes total sense now. Sorry for the tone. I just wanted to immediately squash any of that stuff. It was a really random demand! LMAO

Another one has decided to go to for her last walk to the sky. My beautiful almost 14 year old Sassy Girl had to be put down on Sunday due to various health issues. She was a mutt with Chihuahua, PitBull, and Terrier mixed in her. My Dad got her in 2010 and I helped raise her. She eventually became my Dog pretty much as my Dad passed away in 2014 at 60 and then my partially disabled Mom who lived with me passed away in May at age 65(yeah it's been a very rough Summer).
Sassys health issues started with Valley Fever about 5 years ago, eventually transitioning into battling Ulcers, and we now figured she had Cancer as her weight loss over the last 10 months had been frightening(25.7lbs last Nov to 12.1 when I had her put down). Took her in at 9am and Vet tried to see if a Prednisone regimen might prolong her life for another short period. After leaving and taking her to my friends house I decided to give her a pill around 10:30am. At first she was still a bit sluggish, but started drinking tons of water(normal), so I was like ok. She then laid down and slept for about 20-30 mins. When she got up she started stumbling around and having balance issues. Plus she peed on herself after getting a big drink of water, basically just laid there drinking with a bit of Pee coming out back end at same time. At that point I had enough and decided to do the deed. Called VET and they got me back in by 2:30 to do it. Toughest thing I have had to do(had several Dogs in my Childhood die naturally and I wasn't going to see that again).
Ughhhh. This Dog was just about the only thing I had to Love left(my immediate family is all dead(Mom, Dad, Grandparents), no siblings, no close relationships with Uncles, Aunts, or Cousins other than the occasional phone convo, not married, no kids). I do still have 2 11 year old Cats but they are way to independent to say I feel much love for them. This Dog was it. Goddamn I am going to miss my Desert Walks with her. Pisses me off that just as the crummy heat was starting to abate I had to put her down. This was our time of year to start traversing the desert again regularly, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Sure will miss this amazing little Sassy girl.....(1st Pic from late July, she had lost another 3lbs since that shot was taken).

Copa, so sorry. It’s been 9 months since we had to put our Zany down and we are not over that dreadful day. We miss her every freaking day. My heart goes out to you and I know you will cherish the great memories as you mourn his passing
