The bad thing for Arizona is foreign players are not eligible for NIL.

It's basically because their student visas don't give them the right to work in the US.

I got thrown because of the idea of not being eligible. This is totally semantics, but I focused on the fact NIL itself doesn't bar them instead of the idea that even if NIL does not bar them, it could endanger the visa. Again, thanks for providing clarity.

Arizona: “Since I was a kid, Arizona has always been my dream school so I was really excited to get out there. Coach (Tommy) Lloyd is a great coach coming from Gonzaga. Their style of play is fast, uptempo, sharing the ball, high IQ. They also have great fans there. The atmosphere was definitely crazy versus USC. It’s Arizona, you know? You can’t go wrong with it. I just had a great time in general.”

Lol @ “final 8”
Used to be a player pretty much considered 2 or 3 schools tops, and then made his decision relatively early. Now they have a dozen “finalists” and drag this shit out into the summer. Ridiculous.

Missing a few logos on the bottom of his pic there.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

After officially visiting, Memphis, Arizona, and most recently Texas Tech, Lewis doesn't plan on visiting any more schools, for now, he tells RedRaiderSports.com. He has also unofficially visited Texas, Baylor, SMU, and Houston.
Being ranked as high as he is, Lewis has had numerous schools calling his phone for years. Now that he is getting closer to a decision, Lewis says Arizona, Texas Tech, Arkansas, and Alabama are standing out the most.

If people remember, when Miller actually started getting top ranked kids (usc raiding aside), is AFTER his 2011 run.goslingswagg wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 12:27 pm big visit this weekend with Boswell in town....lock him up Tommy!
After that basically all you heard kids talking about that team and especially Derrick Williams in all the interviews.
A really successful and fun tournament run will really help Tommy, because let's face it no one is watching the PAC 12 network + these late starts
Re: Let's talk '23
Well some very good news is that Kylan Boswell got to see ESPN game day and McKale Center was alive for the Oregon game. He had to be impressed because it looked like a lot of folks standing most of the second half.

His grandpa played at Illinois? And he grew up there??
If we get him, Tommy has a direct line to a higher Power.
And I will be awaiting a natty!
Would we want him to reclass? Sometimes that doesn't go well.

"Great," he said of his time at Illinois. 'The visit was mostly about my mom, to be honest. She wanted to see coach [Brad] Underwood's and [Adam] Fletcher’s plan for me and tour the facilities."

Sometimes moms win.
aka Moms for Miller
Btw if he does commit to Arizona, I've seen enough bad reclassify situations that I'm good not wanting that. Especially if he's 1nD.
With Lloyd's play style and hopefully good tournament showcase, he can attract a good quality grad transfer to help out Kerr.

Re: Let's talk '23
Not sure, but this season will absolutely create recruiting momentum, even with the possibility of sanctions still looming. Guys are gonna wanna play for Lloyd and be part of this "flow" offense and proud tradition, baby.
Re: Let's talk '23
Definitely possible, but CTL will have to navigate the recruiting game carefully.IndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 12:31 pm Any chance we get both Boswell AND Lewis?

If Lewis commits do we stop recruiting Dusty Stromer??
Does CTL focus the rest of his efforts on the transfer portal??
Is CTL assuming that the IARP sanctions will probably include a loss of scholarships? (I would)
Is Aiken ever coming back (which will tie up another scholarship)??
How many of our current players will jump ship and run to the league after the season?
CTL is going to need a full bottle of aspirin over the coming months. Its not a fun time to recruit as a college basketball or football coach.

Our backcourt is looking pretty solid for next season: Terry, Kriisa, Larsson, Bal and Nowell.
Just wanted to point that out.

Re: Let's talk '23
While adding Boswell will be very exciting, I think '23 is a better year for him to come in than '22. Terry could go pro after next season, opening up a lot of backcourt minutes. Also, it's hard to say right now what we're getting in Bal and Nowell. I could see Boswell either starting or being first off the bench in '23. We should still have Larsson too. That's a loaded backcourt.

Boswell and Lewis are both 2023, so next year's class (although Boswell is a reclassify potential)Merkin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:38 pmWill there be enough scholarships? Current class with Dylan Anderson only has 1 total commit. I'm assuming a lot of players coming back and go grad transfer route for '22 and there's a Euro or two out there

At this point of recruiting, commiting only makes sense if he's reclassifying.... so good help for Kerr next year. He's a dog defending.

Re: Let's talk '23
We currently have two open scholarship spots on the team (Aiken, who won't be returning, and an actual open spot).
We'll lose Kier to graduation, and Math and potentially Koloko to the draft (I know - "he loves school!" - but he's also projected as the 25th pick in this year's draft in the latest Athletic mock).
That's four to five open spots for next season. We have Anderson coming in and I believe the secret euro is still in play (I've heard no update since early season indicating one way or another, so I'll assume we've stayed the course).
That leaves two to three spots remaining.
Scholarship reductions: We likely get hit with two and they'll give us credit for the one we've held out this year. That leaves one open spot needed sometime in the following four classes (you get four years generally to take the hit).
We could easily return everyone except Math and Kier and Aiken, add Anderson and his fellow big, and still have room for Boswell to reclass. And then 2023... who knows what the roster looks like. Terry will likely want to go and I firmly believe that Larsson has the potential to be a first round pick in the 2023 draft.
So yeah - no roster crunch quiet yet. Looking forward to picking up commitments from KJ and Kylan in the coming weeks. Would be great momentum for the program and be a huge lift to our future.

Boswell's eval is something we desperately need, a ball pressuring guard.

Arizona has long been the presumed leader, and that status was solidified on an official visit on February 19-20. Sources close to the Arizona program believe the Wildcats are in a good position."
Rivals also has two new picks for Arizona todayCOMPARISON
Patrick Beverley
Boswell is a competitive and winning point guard with a strong and sturdy frame who sets the tone on the defensive end. One of the best on-ball defenders in his class, Boswell is aggressive in getting into opposing ball handlers and guarding with physicality. He has the length to make life hard on whoever he is facing and is one who wins most one-on-one battles when guarding in transition. "Timely" is the best word to describe his offensive game. Boswell plays with pace and is fundamentally sound off the bounce. He has the vision to make the right pass and can be dependable shooting the ball from deep when in rhythm although his shot could use more consistency. However, he always can be counted upon to make the big play at the right time -- whether it be a timely bucket, pass, or forced turnover. He is all about winning and is one of those players who is proven in uplifting a team with great talent around him.

Would be a blessing to have them both playing together. Boswell is a point and Lewis is more of a wing. Both excellent defenders (on and off ball), both pass well and can get a bucket. No reason they couldn't play together.TheCat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 5:22 pmOne's a point and one is a shooting guard right?IndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 12:31 pm Any chance we get both Boswell AND Lewis?
