Love me some Charlie. Especially since my wife's family is all from Wisconsin. It's pretty accurate for me though. I prioritize sleep, rest, and planning extensively compared to my insanity of my mid 20s.

I turn 40 next year and my friend reunions still are much closer to those clips of those in their twenties as well. The clips of those in their forties is more like my everyday life but when I reunite with college friends, it is like a time machine which I regret going in for a week later (but not really).

I just got together with my buddies a few weeks ago and in one night between the four of us we polished off a bottle and a half of bourbon and a 24 pack of beer. This was after being at a bar until it closed. We played poker until like 4:30am which is I guess when we REALLY started drinking.

The main difference seems to be that in your 40s you have to be a functioning adult the next day while in your 20s you could just sleep until the afternoon and then order pizza and/or go back to drinking to try and get rid of your hangover.

I'm too disengaged from life to compare to any of that. I haven't been inside a car or a bar or anything else with anyone since March 2020.

You actually know him. My buddy Brent. Used to come to watch Arizona games with us from time to time. And we hung out all together on a few other occasions.

He didn’t die so chances are when you come back to town we can run it back.

His doctor told him it was booze, tobacco, and exhaustion due to being up all night partying.

So we cut out the tobacco and he seemed to be fine this time.

I mentioned I'm heading back there for Homecoming along with 3 other college buddies. We haven't all been together in one place since 1984.

I know we won't be able to party the same way and 1 friend is on the mend after a long bout with booze and cocaine.

But what was funny is the lady renting us this nice house in the Foothills didn't want a security deposit. I said why given our shady backgrounds and my friend just said "she looked at our ages and figured we were harmless".

My ability to consume and tolerate alcohol seems tied to having adequate electrolytes before, during and after. Without them, aside from 24 hour headaches, I get an elevated heart rate and shaky digits. I've learned the hard way that if I'm gonna be a bad boy I need to skip exercise/fluid loss altogether on the party day, make certain to gunge on Emergen-C, and up my sodium above the usual the zero bound.

Only thing that got me through those drinking marathons in my 20s was Pedialyte
