Speaking of which, I forgot to mention she has a standing job offer from a major sports company. I'm sure that will factor into her decision.

So, right before the national championship game, Tara Van Der Veer finds it necessary to lecture the officials and remind them that we're playing basketball and not spring football? Way to work the refs. So, if Arizona expects to have the advantage of escaping ticky-tack Pac-12 refs, she wants to plant the seed that if she's stomping around and complaining because the officials are letting them play, there's something wrong and she has her ready-made excuse. How about, if the refs are letting the teams go at it, have your team adjust and play that way too? As long as it's fairly called, nobody cares whether the old prune doesn't agree with the approach stylistically. If I was on that officiating crew, I'd be pretty irritated at that kind of manipulative b.s. I think I might let her know in the pre-game that no, we won't be playing football, but yes, we're very willing to give a quick T if there's an excessive attempt to officiate from the bench.

Because of this I've been bummed to have moved from SA. We could walk to the Alamodome in 15 min.

I really couldn't be more impressed with this team. So much drive and fight.
They deserve every bit of support they can get for this run.

This hurts, but these women put this program on the map, and no one can ever take that way from them. This is only the beginning for this program.

Might be a good thing—keeps the chip on her shoulder and motivated to kick ass and take names.

I’m so proud of these ladies, but so sad that Aari will have to think about those missed throws for a very long time. I saw a grown man shed tears today. These women put women’s basketball on more than the Tucson map. I hope this is only the beginning.

They showed the fight of true Wildcats and left it all on the floor. Just came up a few inches short, but I couldn't be more proud of a team. One of the best in Arizona history; any sport.

I remember having debates on Title IX athletic requirements with my (future) wife, who was an athlete, way back in the 1970s. I'm not usually one for hyperbole, but looking at what's evolved, it's really amazing. You have exciting and entertaining female athletes in many sports, and it's inspiring, not just for generations of young women, but for our entire society. So here's the latest example of that, and it's not just limited to the UArizona or Tucson communities. That Final Four run literally caught the imaginations of people around the county and the world. Note Magic Johnson's tweet about Aari. You can't get any closer than 1 point, but sometimes there are other ways of measuring winning than the scoreboard. No doubt many good things to come in the future, but the first time is always sweet. Thanks to the gals and the coaches for a wonderful and inspiring season.

My boys (9 & 11) were not at all into watching the women's team at the start of the tourney. By the Final Four they knew all the starters names and what each player was good at and their role. They were genuinely excited after the UConn win and genuinely sad when that last shot didn't go in against Stanford. Not sure that will translate into them wanting to watch the regular season, but they definitely learned that the women's game is fun and exciting and I'm sure when we go back to the tourney they'll want to watch.
