Pac-12 Bowl Ties

The Rose Bowl is a College Football Playoff semifinal – there’s no rule that the Pac-12 gets a team in this season.

1. Valero Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12
2. National University Holiday Bowl vs. Big Ten
3. Foster Farms Bowl vs. Big Ten
4. Hyundai Sun Bowl vs. ACC
5. Las Vegas Bowl vs. Mountain West
6. Motel 6 Cactus Bowl vs. Big 12
The winner of the PAC-12 will get a New Years Six game.

What do you think UA needs to do the rest of the way to make the Holiday Bowl? 2 more wins?
I'm not Chief but we'll need to finish 2nd in the South to get to the Holiday Bowl. The only way to guarantee that is to win out.
My understanding is that Holiday Bowl has 2nd choice but can't pick anyone two games below the highest remaining team. So matchup would matter.

If both usc and UW get NY6 bowls I think 6-3 gets it done. RR and UA vs Michigan is a dream matchup for the bowl and tv

Pick order concerning the PAC-12 is CFP, NY6, Alamo, then Holiday. I don't think the loser of the conference championship gets in this year. We got the Fiesta Bowl when Oregon went to the CFP.

I have seen projections with usc and UW in NY6 bowls and neither in cfp.

Big Ten had 3 teams in NY6 last yeae

A win out would probably seal it. Two wins and it’s on the fence.

I've seen those but I'd be surprised if a 2 loss PAC-12 teams gets a NY6 game.

It is the match up the people want.

Oh man that would be so great.

RR vs Harbaugh in the smug arrogant stubborn bowl.

Although I LOVE Holiday bowls, I think you guys are missing the dream match up. Tate vs. Jackson, maybe at the Sun Bowl.

With Washington moving up to #9 I think they have a better shot at the CFP if they win out. A lot of ball left to be played.

I will never, ever, ever go to El Paso for a bowl game. I get the appeal it be like Bo Jackson playing on both teams in a tecmo bowl game.

But RR vs. Michigan? Against the single biggest douchebag to ever grace the game of football? Man alive, you want to see RichRod pull out tricks he has been hiding for his entire career? You ever see a coach TRY and put up 100 points in a game?

That's the damn matchup.

I totally forgot about Dudek bailing for Michidan. I mean this has been a wild timeline the last year but could we really get this lucky? I can't get my heart set on it just yet.

Agree on all points HS, and love harbaugh, from his work at furd and the niners, but he is one arrogant smug stubborn dude. His stubbornness cost the niners that game against the giansts in the NL champsionship.

One gets Harbaugh until he chaps too many asses and he moves on. It’ll happen at Michigan too.

Right now I would say the following but two more weeks changes things a lot obviously

USC NY6
Washington Alamo
Washington State Holiday
Stanford Foster Farms
U of A Sun
UCLA Vegas
asu Cactus

I am not so sure of this. For one Wazzu has to play UW in the Apple Cup. And Stanford has to travel to Notre Dame. They lose and they will have 4 losses. Then there is the Pac-12 Championship game, where I believe the northern division team will lose. If the Cats win out I believe they are going to the Holiday bowl.

I agree with Cat. Will UCLA get 6 wins? I also think the Utah/CU winner gets a bid. Not sure ASSU beats OSU this week so they might not get to 6 wins

Likely Cal and UCLA, who play the week after there rivalry game, will be playing for their 6th win. Utah and CU will be playing for win #6 and ASSU while it should beat OSU for its 6th win, I just think the Beavs might shock the devils. Oregon still needs a win but should find one

So in for sure:

USC
Wazzu
FURD
AZ
Washington

Should get to 6

Oregon

Winner will get to 6

Cal/UCLA
CU/Utah

Still hopeful:

ASSU

So the PAC could get 9 teams into bowls

And 8-5 if they lose the Pac12 championship game. That won't get them to the holiday bowl.

I agree with you. I was saying if they picked now that's how it would be. Lots of football still to be played that will impact things a lot. Win the next two and things will work out well for UA

I imagine UA travels a lot better than Stanford does to SD. Stanford fans don't even travel that well to Palo Alto.

Since bowl committees can move up or down 1 position it bodes well in either case.

Arizona travels better to SD than Furd travels to their own stadium. That school doesn't deserve the success their program has had over the years.

Especially if that game is against Michigan... The Coach Rod vs Michigan hype would really help ticket sales. Although, I guess it'd be Stanford vs Harbaugh too.

I think the Stanford Vs Michigan would be the #1 priority for the Holiday committee. Stanford has never been to the Holiday and however little Stanford (and Arizona for that matter) might travel they'd count on the Michigan faithful making it up. Plus the Heisman candidate they'd lose out on in showcasing Tate is replaceable with Love.

I'm guessing we're the fashionable priority for the Sun bowl with the hope that we'll be willing to make the drive down I-10.

The fun is in tracking where the currently SIX (!) 5 win conference teams will end up - UCLA, ASU, Colorado, Utah, Cal, and Oregon.

I don't see Stanford vs Michigan as being that juicy nationwide. The time between in San Fran lessened the intrigue of that matchup.

I guess the intrigue is Harbaugh going up against his former team or RR going against his old employer. Not sure when Harbaugh left if anyone wrote a book and I think the story line is much better with the 3 and out backround.

Need to take care of biz first though

That and Stanford fans simply just don't care that much in general and Michigan fans don't particularly give a shit about Stanford.

Michidantards do however have feelings about RichRod and vice versa. And the coaching matchup in general of RR vs. Harbaugh is so much more entertaining than Harbaugh vs. David Shaw. What is exciting about David Shaw other than how many times the Browns have probably tried to hire him?

It be funny if the match up was Arizona vs Michigan State instead of Michigan.

Think of the story of both teams coming off identical record in 2016(3-9) to (7-3) overall in 2017. That would be a good match up instead seeing RR being poster child vs Michigan.

Current Pac-12 Standings for Bowl seeding:

U$C 8-1 (10-2)
Stanford 7-2 (8-3)
UW 6-2 (9-2)
Wazzu 6-2 (9-2)
Arizona 5-3 (7-4)
ASU 5-3 (6-5)
Oregon 3-5 (6-5)
-----------------------------------
UCLA 3-5 (5-6)
California 2-6 (5-6)
Colorado 2-6 (5-6)
Utah 2-6 (5-6)

Utah vs. Colorado winner becomes bowl eligible - loser is out (unless not enough 6-6 eligible teams for all bowl slots)
UCLA - Cal winner becomes bowl eligible - loser is out (unless not enough 6-6 eligible teams for all bowl slots)

After CFP Bowls (No Pac-12) and NY6 Bowls (1-2 Pac-12) are filled:

Selection Affiliation
1 Alamo Bowl Big 12 #2
2 Holiday Bowl Big Ten - Tier #1
3 Foster Farms Bowl Big Ten - Tier #2
4 Sun Bowl ACC - Tier #1
5 Las Vegas Bowl MWC #1
6 Cactus Bowl Big 12 #6

When it's a bowl's turn to pick, they can choose the next team in the standings or any team within one game of the conference standings.
