Not that I care, but Stadium doesn't even have us ranked in the top 25? And CU at 16?
Jeff Goodman hates his alma mater. Probably because he’s a weirdo and never got laid.
I recall his official bio at CBS Sports was his lamenting about the early Lute exits when he was a student, although it completely left out the Final Four that happened during the same period.

Actually it was our Natty. That mush mouth bitch is so bitter that he dismisses being at Arizona for our lone championship.

Goodman absolutely hates Caleb Love and thinks he's a net negative to the team
I agree with Goodman, which is a rare occurance.
Caleb Love is shaping up to be a "be careful what you wish for" case...
Is he a "major improvement" at PG for Arizona??? That is the expectation.
Yet, even a merely good performance will be construed by most as a major letdown!! Add to that, the fact is that his recent performance has been well below standard, so we're expecting a "major improvement" from him, to be that "major improvement"!!

All three years at UNC as a starter the opposing teams averaged more points per possession than his team while he was on the court. That is not easy to do at UNC and he was the only starter any of those years where that was the case, but he managed to do it all three years. That is the definition of a net negative, his teams have been better when he is off the floor then when he is on. But maybe you strike the lottery and he has one or two good tournament games and your team is strong enough to overcome his bad ones as UNC did in 2022.

Love has a high ceiling. His potential is NBA level. For whatever reason, we saw only brief moments of the greatness, mostly during the 2022 Tournament.
With many players with great potential who are struggling, a change of scenery is just what the doctor ordered. I think Tommy's system and team depth could be just what Love needs to reach his potential on a more consistent level. It's worth the risk in my opinion, because without Love, we're a Sweet 16 ceiling team in my opinion. With Love, we have the firepower to reach a Final Four.

Didn't Love allude to that he was never told what was a good shot or not at UNC, so went to UA to get some structure from Lloyd?

What I'm expecting is an experienced player that plays within the team concept and is a great teammate. One that gets shots within the offense and does not have to hunt shots to be productive. One that can adequately guard larger opposing players and make open shots when they are presented. I don't expect or need him to be the highest scorer or be the focus of the offense on a nightly basis. I think these things are all possible for both of our new backcourt players.

I wasn't the biggest Love fan going into the postseason, but him signing with us is a huge positive in my book. When you consider that Ramey was an ESPN top 50 player and you look at Love at his best, the ceiling is clearly higher with Love. And Ramey was highly effective but had limitations. Like someone mentioned before, he has NBA potential but has some between-the-ears stuff to work out to play consistently well for this team. There's a reason why Texas and Gonzaga were still going after him despite the negative press.
All things considered, I like the moves that were made in the portal. I'm just hoping that at least one or two of the recruited players coming in are much better than advertised.

He isn't a point guard, he's an off ball guard or wing
If he sucks, just go with Boswell and Bradley as originally planned
Hubert Davis sucks as a Xs and Os coach and Lloyd has a better offensive system that will put him off ball and keep his shots higher quality

Interesting that we didn’t schedule any big 12 opponent. That can only mean one thing

[tweet][/tweet]Do you guys think there is any way in hell that the PAC 12 media rights package distributes more than 34 mil per school? Now if the big 12 goes from 10 to 16 schools, how does that effect their distributions? Is it always a certain amount per school or is it a total for the conference divided up between the members.
If I remember right each school got 41 mil last year from tv plus NCAA tournament and football playoffs. I could be way off on the number and the sources might be incorrect. I'm pretty sure the BIG12 gets 34 mil per school from just tv.
340 mil total is only like 21/school with 16 members. If the PAC can't come up with that..... that would suck for the PAC 12 member schools.

Pretty sure I read that any P5 program will receive equal shares if they move to the B12. Mid-majors or schools with no football program like the Zags will not.
Still don't see the PAC without USC and UCLA making near that B12 money, even with SDSU. Recall that San Diego let the Chargers go, and even with a brand new stadium and a much larger population base Fresno State and Boise State still had better attendance than SDSU.

More teams means more games and more revenue, so the share should remain steady.

You can trust they would not have let in schools that are just a revenue drain.

More games doesn't necessarily mean more money per school although I am sure schools coming from G5 conferences won't be getting full shares initially

By postseason success, you mean FFs. It's okay to call it what it is. Miller got to 3 E8s.

Let me put it another way - postseason success commensurate to our regular season record.
KaibabKat wrote: Tue Jun 20, 2023 12:15 pm
Arizona in the NCAA tournament last eight seasons:
2016 = 0-1
2017 = vacated
2018 = vacated
2019 = DNP
2020 = cancelled
2021 = banned
2022 = 2-1
2023 = 0-1
Also 5 first round losses since '04.
