Right now, Arizona is ranked first in ESPN.com's Way-Too-Early Top 25 poll entering the 2017-18 season. DeAndre Ayton, the No. 2 prospect in the 2017 class per ESPN.com, will enter the mix for the Wildcats this season.
Allonzo Trier should begin the 2017-18 campaign as a preseason All-American. The Wildcats boast the pieces to make a run at the Final Four in San Antonio. And that has been the norm for the program under Sean Miller. Miller is 48 years old, and currently holds one of the best posts in college basketball. He has built a pipeline to prep talent that he can maintain at Arizona -- or another stop if he decides to leave his current gig.
Miller's critics often cite his postseason missteps. He has never reached the Final Four. But he has taken four teams to the Elite Eight.
Bill Self didn't reach the Final Four until his 15th season as a Division I head coach. Miller will enter his 12th year as a head coach this season.
All signs point to Miller becoming one of college basketball's top figures; the coach will earn his place on the game's Mount Rushmore a decade from now.

Miller is the best coach in the Pac and among the top 5 or 10 active coaches. It really puts in perspective just how young he is, and how early he still is in his career, when you consider that Self didn't get to the FF until his 15th season.

ESPN hypes up any MSG game far more than it would in Chicago or Phoenix.

Yeah. MSG is still the #1 basketball arena in the world. From a prestige standpoint, it doesn't get bigger.

Sean Miller lands in Vegas hoping to hit it big on Arizona Wildcats' class of 2018 recruits
By Bruce Pascoe Arizona Daily Star Jul 26, 2017 Updated 14 hrs
The Arizona coaches have already begun working with next season’s players over a month of small-group drills, and on Sunday they’ll hold the first of 10 full-length practices in advance of the Wildcats’ Spanish exhibition tour next month.
But before that, there’s Las Vegas — 15-hour days at three mega-showcase tournaments this weekend known as the Fab 48, Adidas Summer Championships and Las Vegas Classic.
Even though the Wildcats already have two well-regarded Southern Californians committed to the class
of 2018, point guard Brandon Williams and power forward Shareef O’Neal, that doesn’t make their efforts this weekend any less critical.
“Having two early commitments, especially at key positions, with a point guard and a post — two of the top West Coast kids in the class — relieves a little bit of pressure,” Scout analyst Josh Gershon said. “But obviously Bol is a serious recruit and there are some players who have emerged as serious recruits who maybe weren’t before.”
Among those guys are New Jersey guard Jalen Carey, who just picked up a UA offer, North Carolina guard Devon Dotson and Canadian power forward Simisola Shittu.
It's got to be disheartening if you've been on a kid for months and years and all of a sudden CSM or Cal are showing up to their games and telling him he can be a star in a Wildcat uniform.

Now you know how RichRod must feel. Oh wait. UA doesn't even try for the same kids as the Alabamas of the world.

Why would RR, would be a waste of time at this point. Very few people interested in Alabama would be interest pied in Arizona.

Terrific move to bring Ray. Coach has such a keen sense of right, wrong, and how to juice teamship. Makes me feel proud.

Sean Miller anticipates 'all positives' from Arizona Wildcats' trip to Spain
By Bruce Pascoe Arizona Daily Star Aug 8, 2017 Updated 8 hrs ago
“The one thing I remember was it really helped the camaraderie,” Miller said Tuesday, when discussing the Wildcats’ upcoming trip to Spain. “It really helped the team get to know each other and those who had never been in college learned the value of practice. … So maybe it allowed us to get off to a good start.”
“I’m happy to get in here because the earlier we (practice), the better we are going to get down the stretch,” Alkins said. “I’m happy that we’re going to Spain this year and get a chance to play against each other. We’ll have a connection and a chemistry faster than you would get in October.”
So are we playing international rules? Wasn't someone attending from here?

dcZONAfan lives in Spain I believe.
Saw somewhere that a rule change by the NCAA means Chase Jeter can play.

It's truly amazing at the Recruiting Juggernaut that is "CSM and Company".....certainly helps to make an off-season more tolerable when you hear Arizona on the lips of sooooo many stud recruits. Just hope it doesn't wear the staff down as much as I suspect it does.
BTFD Coach and go get 'em!
