It’s my son’s 17th birthday today… we are going out to dinner… with a 6pm game start…. Does not look good for me to watch tonight’s a game. I haven’t missed a game since Tennessee

last AZ win in Boulder was 2/26/15 in a blowout 82-54
Lloyd has been tremendous bring balance back to the force so far this season for Arizona - its only fitting he and AZ give Tad Boyle and that whiny bunch of Buff fans a reminder that its time to go back to the kiddie table...with a resounding thumping and a special salute to a smiling Sean Miller on the way out.

Last nights loss was concerning, as we just got our asses kicked. Defense and rebounding were bad and the effort wasn't there. The officials helped them out a little also. I thought the substitution pattern was off with Zu, Kerr and Benn sitting for long stretches. Lloyd was a little more excitable than usual, barking at refs and a little out of character for him. An off night. Maybe the letdown finally caught up after having gameday last Saturday. And did the Buffs prepare at all for ASU? or was it all about AZ all week for them? Such is life as number 2 in the nation- projected one seed. And the Buffs having a rather mediocre year. This was their FF. It's a tough time of year for these top teams as we saw last night. Everybody playing not to lose their positioning is a not a good mentality to be playing in. Cats need to find their hunger again. Maybe the loss last night will help with that. Hopefully.
So we could lose to SC and hold serve at home and still be outright champion in the conference. I like conference championships and it looks like that is going to happen. If we lose to SC we might lose our consideration for a one seed. But maybe we could get it back if we won the conf tourney. Would rather not have to win the conf tourney. The one seed is nice but guarantees nothing. We've all seen it. It's all about matchups and the path you end up with. Would be hard to fall below the 2 seed and I am fine with it. SC is going to be tired Tuesday also. They had a double OT game on Thursday and a tough battle last night. Peterson is playing really confident right now and believes he is the guy. If you lock him up we should beat SC. Give him the treatment. Losing one of three of these final three road games was an acceptable outcome before it started. We can still save that outcome.

We're not going to lose to either Cal or Stanford at home and every team that's competing with us for a 1 seed lost too, so meh. I'd much rather get the dub vs USC and put both to rest, but I'm not concerned about either. Losing to USC on the road is not going to drop us from a 1 seed guys.

Yes, it will, unless we win the Pac tourney. Losing yesterday changed the importance of what happens in Vegas. Also, a loss to USC makes our likelihood of a 1 seed more dependent on what the teams behind us do (Auburn, UK, Purdue, Kansas, Duke), which wasn’t the case before yesterday.

A Quad 1 road loss will not knock us off the 1 seed line. We were literally the overall #2 team per the committee as of yesterday. The one team ahead of us and every one immediately behind us literally lost. We're ok Beach, I promise. Now if we lose in the 1st round of the Pac-12 tourney and lose to USC on Tuesday then maybe there's a reason to worry.

I mean, without being flip about it, we can also point out that the season ends in a single loss for every team but one. You can be 30-0, but if you lose in the S16, which game do you think people will remember? That last one or the 30 preceding it?
It’s always going to be more unnerving when AZ loses badly in late February compared to December. All it takes is one flat game in the tourney, and we’re done.
Still, I know how good this team is, and yesterday’s outcome doesn’t change my high expectations for the tourney, not even a little. If we beat USC on Tuesday, we’re a #1 seed. If we lose, it gets more complicated.

Something to consider...since Kriisa is from Estonia and the Tubellis' are from Lithuania...these formerly Soviet Union countries are in very close proximity to Ukraine and Russia. I'm sure they have Ukrainian and Russian friends from international basketball competition. Not to mention their country may be annexed next (highly doubtful since they're in NATO but still a concern). Kerr, usually extremely passionate, and Zu looked particularly disinterested and unfocused on the court. I suspect they may have had more on their minds than just basketball last night.

I love the excuse game as much as anybody....well....not really, but Tubelis put up over 20 and Kerr had a career game against Utah, and that game literally took place during the first day of the Russian invasion. So......I'm not buying it. We just simply had a shit game. It literally happens to every team every where and we sure were due for it.

One bad game. That’s all we can say for now. It’s not like there’s a pattern so let’s try and not lose our shit. We are supposed to be a knowledgeable fan base - well, most of us are anyway.
We haven’t lost 2 in a row all year and have another tough roadie on Tuesday plus it being our 3rd road game in 6 days in February. Not easy for any team.
Be interesting to see if this is the team we really think it is.
Most telling game of the year frankly.

The rocky mountain trip is not what it used to be but looking at their home game results in conference shows they still keep it close and make it tough.
Whereas they tend to get blown out (especially Utah) on the road. Colorado will be tough, playing a 9pm MT game vs Utah on Thursday and then Saturday game @ 6pm MT.
Very little rest and a lot of travel.
Well I was right.
That was some classic fatigued front rimmed clanks + altitude. Be thankful these bad games happened in the regular season and we go on another run. Had won 9 games in a row, hard to keep intensity for so long.
Now we got two days rest for USC on another super late start. Anyone know if they're flying straight to LA or to Tucson then LA?

Every now and then a good, disciplined defensive team runs us out of our offense and we struggle to dictate tempo. This worries me going into the tournament.
I also have a feeling we are going to play ASSU on Thursday of the tournament in Vegas and they have been playing pretty solid basketball of late
