I like it that the UNC AD was like “Oh, I stepped out of the room when they debated the Tar Heels”.
As if the other committee members are toddlers with no sense of object permanence and they all just completely forgot their boss even existed as soon as the door closed.
It was an ACC snow job. The conference was dog shit yet somehow a team that no one had in made it based on their strength of schedule where they lost to every good team they played. Utter bullshit.
Object permanence...

The governor of West Virginia is upset that West Virginia was left out of the NCAA Tournament. Might we see yet another lawsuit against the NCAA?
yeah, this is kind of bananas. i'm sure WV could use the revenue units and exposure from the tournament, and multitasking is a thing, but the optics is not good. it'd be easy even for his constituents to think he's got his priorities wrong.
Yeah, u of m got hosed big time! Not only did they get underseeded, they get to play the best 12 seed ever in the history of 12 seeds.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Let Vegas pick the 37 at large and seed them. They know best. At least have someone from Vegas on the committee (I know that would look bad).
Some of those seeds are moved one line to accommodate travel and sites. It’s imperfect for sure

‘02 Missouri Tigers and ‘21 Oregon State Beavers might disagree.
UCSD is #36 at kenpom
After getting to the final 4, Oregon st. was 43
After the tourney, Missouri was 29. Not sure what they were at the beginning of the tournament.
So, you might be right. At least about Mizzou.

Jimmer has us losing to Akron. Well, it's over now. I guess we needn't play at all.

I still don't comprehend how the some play-in games are 11 seeds and some are 16.
The last 4 auto qualifiers are the teams that play the two games against teams seeded at 16. The last four ar-large teams are the ones that usually play as 11 seeds. Occasionally, they might be 12 seeds, but that depends on where the last at large teams land. The last at large teams usually go to 11.
But if they are auto qualifiers, why do they have to play in round zero?
Did they add more conferences as auto qualifiers when they started this round zero thing?

And why doesn't Canada just let them dig up Oak Island and really see what is underground?

The 16’s getting a game means two of their conferences get an NCAA tournament win which means $2M each which they then disburse to all their schools. It’s a good way to get small conferences some tourney revenue.

It's bullshit. The play in games should be the last eight at large teams.

I think 64 was perfect. Who cares if it means less at large.
This X 1000%
I would actually prefer they go back to 48 like it was for years. No seed lower than 11 has ever made the Final Four, and the lowest seed to win it all was an 8.

Based off the Final Four and Champions, this is a valid argument. Especially if the point of the tournament is to crown a champion, and nothing else. But I'd argue part of the allure and reason for the tournament is the double digit seed upsets, and teams like Florida Gulf Coast making it to the Sweet 16. The chance of FGCU ever winning it all is infinitesimal, but the chance of them winning two is large enough that it happens from time to time. And that's as big a story in many regards as who wins it all.

I think this expansion was created to give small schools outside the big conferences a chance to be included. What it did is give even more big conference teams a chance to lobby to be included.

i'm fine with 64/68 - it's nice for smaller programs to get exposure and a little revenue. big12 commissioner wants to expand the tournament to 76, though. that seems like a bit much. the preseason / season already feels so long, and it all runs right through to the postseason with no break, which seems like a grind for the players.
This is how Ai see’s it. Just don’t see Kansas winning it all like it does LOL
