On Tuesday night, Wichita State showed why the gap between its résumé and its eventual NCAA tournament seed was going to make the life of some "favorite" difficult. That favorite is No. 6-seeded Arizona, which may well be the Shockers' (and the committee's) next victim.

Will look forward to putting the Bristol anti-Arizona sound machine on silent after tonight, with a reminder of Sean Miller's record as a 6 seed and against lower seeds in general.

So the refs have been calling bad games in pretty much every game, idk if that's good or bad for UA but they need to make their free throws.

We don't need to try to run and gun, but we need to get into our offense early so our guards can properly feed the post. 0-degree angle post passes, or post passes from heavy pressure that cause the post player to step to the ball and off the block are not going to be effective. Huge size advantage needs to be exploited, but a great post game starts with guard entry, and WSU can pressure the perimeter. We don't see a lot of it because of Zeus' hands, but a couple hi/low sets would be nice if we can flash RA to the circle and Zeus can seal a smaller defender. What we cannot do is have to generate shots against a short shot clock. Rebound, push without leaking (how many times have we been hurt this year by a guard leaking out leaving an open shooter off an offensive rebound?), and get into the set early. If they overplay, drive (I know...brilliant). Inside out, Gabe. Step into the shot. No drifting 3's forced off a dribble.

It seems so obvious, but value every possession. Situational awareness has hurt us at times this year, with throwaway possessions like some kind of "OK, your turn" progression. No...not everyone gets their chance to shoot. Get open, and you get to shoot. Zero throwaway possessions.

I hate this matchup. I hate this draw. I hate that we have seniors everywhere, but even the seniors are largely tournament virgins. They will be heart in throat nervous. We have to have a clean start to calm everyone. There is a lot to be concerned with, but you have to win tough games at some point...might as well be game 1.

Nice read EV! I think so much comes down to playing our game and effort level. WSU is super on D. Don't let frustration slow down your own defensive effort. And keep tos and forced shots to a minimum as you said.

We have faced plenty of tough teams lately - I think our team will be ready to go!
