In Mexico City fans made the South Korean ambassador come outside and do tequila shots with the crowd.

Yeah two fun games
Hopefully tomorrow is more of the same, but I kinda wonder if we might get two significantly more lopsided games

I think the only thing worse than this game...is having to see more of it with extra time.
Perhaps I've got some dishes to do or something.

You take 11 doped up players and stand them all in the last third of the field and you get 74-26 possession, 700 more completed passes by Spain than Russia
Just so fucking boring

I do love me some Spain with this generation, but this is/was always its downfall with the tiki taka against a low rent team that bunkers.

Since I don't really get soccer, did Russia just like sit back and play defense all game and wimp out just to try to get to extra time and penalty kicks?

And hater don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m starting to maintain that people dont like soccer are the same people that don’t like foreplay. At least that’s what I’m telling friends when we start the “soccer is awesome/soccer is boring” banter.

If nothing happened for the next 116 minutes of this Croatian/Denmark game, this game would still have been better than Russia/Spain

Croatia is a country of about 4.2M people.
Their midfield is Perisic, Modric and Rakitic.

Not true lol, soccer is exciting for about 8 of the 90+ minutes but the rest is painful to watch.

And they fouled whenever they got beat. 19 called fouls to 5 for Spain. BS in my book.

This is the best World Cup I've watched. What Columbia did was incredible. Their defense in the box was extremely good, although a little risky. After seeing what Belgium did yesterday and the Columbia/England game today I am enjoying this immensely. I am now officially converted to loving soccer. In this sport execution is everything.

Nigeria Captain Played Key World Cup Match Hours After Learning His Father Was Kidnapped
John Obi Mikel, the captain of Nigeria’s World Cup soccer team, played in his team’s final, crucial match against Argentina last week hours after finding out kidnappers were holding his father hostage, he revealed on Tuesday.
Mikel didn’t tell his teammates or coaches before the game, looping in just a small group of friends outside the team, he said in a statement sent to several news organizations. He said he had been told his father would be shot immediately if he reported it to the authorities or told anyone else.
The Nigerian police rescued his father, Michael Obi, on Monday from a remote area in southeastern Nigeria, six days after Mikel received a phone call as he was headed to the stadium in St. Petersburg, Russia.
I would not have played. Wow!

Brazil is in trouble! Belgium came to play. Of course scoring a goal for the opponent doesn't help.

Can we pick up Pulisic on loan for the final? Glad hes on the USMNT, but he has to be like "WTF" right now. What a freaking match. Perisic was a mad man in the second half. Dude was all over every ball, creating nearly every chance.
