Lonzo Ball, the former UCLA star expected to be among the top three picks in the NBA draft, arrived wearing Nikes rather than his signature shoes that LaVar is selling for $495 apiece.

Good thing for UCLA scholies are only good for one year.
LaMelo is young. It does blow me away that he can maybe dunk and gets the hype he gets. He has a lot of developing to do, and I can't ever see him being a prospect on the level of Lonzo. If he grows and gets stronger and quicker, he could be a college contributor.Alieberman wrote:Does he have a guaranteed scholarship to UCLA?

Lonzo is easily the best of the 3. I'm pretty sure LiAngelo wouldn't be at UCLA if not for Lonzo.
He could be good, it's just that he'd better really develop. The game he plays right now is not going to transition to college, and he needs to be able to make plays that aren't pullup 3's or cherry picking.MrBug708 wrote:He should just classify back to his original year and develop some moreSpaceman Spiff wrote:LaMelo is young. To bad for him, life aint fair.
It cuts both ways. Ballislife is the most popular Youtube channel for hyping HS basketball and 5 of their last 10 videos are about LaMelo.MrBug708 wrote:To be fair, that video was designed to show the bad parts, which there were a lot to. Lavar is generaring a lot of attention. LaMelo is getting hype his ability doesn't deserve and he will get hate that is above his level too.
It's unfortunate that Lavar is doing that to a 15 year old.
I can agree with that. It would be far better for LaMelo to play for a real team where he had to play in a system and coexist. When he gets to college, he needs to be able to do that, and having him as the only offensive option on the Big Ballers stunts his growth.MrBug708 wrote:Absolutely.Spaceman Spiff wrote:It cuts both ways. The youngest does have talent, his dad really should just close his AAU team down because Melo is the only kid with a Div. 1 offer on the team. Let him go play qith more talented kids. His his school team would crush the AAU team, it's that bad. But Lavar can't give up control

What makes Lonzo special is his ability to facilitate others. I don't see that out of LaMelo at all. If Lavar was smart, he'd be trying to push LaMelo to develop that aspect of his game. PG sized guys who jack long threes, are good when they catch fire and that's it are pretty common.MrBug708 wrote:A lot of concerns with Lonzo and how he got into UCLA seemed to work out alright, so im extremely hopeful it works out just as well, but Lonzo has a much better game

Maybe let's get back to talking about how Lavar is batsh*t crazy and how average his younger sons are at basketball.
Well, based on its title, it's about the only UCLA player of the last several years to have anyone's attention, a player who took UCLA to new heights during the 2016-17 season. His impact on the program will not be soon forgotten.Spaceman Spiff wrote:I thought this thread was about condiments.Beachcat97 wrote:This thread has taken a strange turn.rgdeuce wrote:Please. I don't know where this idea is from that this is not about condiments.TucsonClip wrote:sriracha, soy, rice wine vinegar, garlic. I put that combo on everything, amazing salad dressing too.wyo-cat wrote:We do a lot of mixing in my kitchen.

One and done for the other Ball boys I figured it meant they'd be at UCLA one year, and Alford would get fired for recruiting such crappy talent. And the new head coach would not honor their scholies. So...one....and done.97cats wrote:this is easily the best yet -- by a mile

The goal for LaVar, he says, is to get all three on the Lakers to form a superteam like they did in high school.
"We get three of the Ball boys on the Lakers together, and we gonna go championship, championship, championship, championship, championship," LaVar said. "You think I'm playing? You saw what they did in high school."
Lonzo didn't register either and he was a top 5 prospect. They play for his dad's AAU team, they aren't worried about being the top ranked kid, exposure in all star games, or getting as many offers as possible. He's easily the most identifiable recruit in the nation, regardless of class. Everyone knows who he is because he scored 92 points in a single game. In his class, Melo is ranked higher than all but one of Arizona's class this year. Is this your way of dissing on Arizona again, thinking no one is going to call you on it? Melo is ranked 16th by ESPN, 12th on ESPN, 16th by scout, and 16th by Rivals. If that is a blip, you must think Arizona's basketball recruits are RichRod caliber kids.Beachcat97 wrote:The younger Balls don't even register a faint blip on the national recruiting radar, which is telling. If UCLA fans have their hopes pinned to Lonzo's little brothers, they're in trouble.
