He's stepping down from Maccabi Tel Aviv due to complications from MS. Air travel is difficult for him. The article says he had several offers in the US.

This is amazing. He may be the best international basketball coach in the world. And he is coming to Tucson as a consultant for CTL. CTL said Blatt is one of his mentors. Unfortunate circumstances brings him to Tucson. That is sad. But UA just picked up one of the greatest minds in basketball.

The Athletic has us ranked 8th to start the season.
Arizona’s success last season was built around the twin towers of Azuolas Tubelis and Oumar Ballo. Ultimately, that led to a lot of regular-season wins, but Princeton spaced the Wildcats out and ran their bigs through the wringer with intricate offensive sets in a first-round NCAA Tournament upset. Coach Tommy Lloyd has won 61 games in his first two seasons but has very little to show for it yet in March.
This offseason, the Wildcats made some adjustments. Their defense and team speed got a lot better with the addition of transfers Keshad Johnson, Jaden Bradley and Caleb Love along with incoming freshman K.J. Lewis. Johnson has received rave reviews from the coaching staff and should really benefit offensively from Arizona’s pace. He’s a matchup problem with his quickness at the four.
We’re also betting on Lloyd to rein in Love and for his efficiency to go up. And given all of those additions, the Wildcats also have depth and a lot of different lineup variations. Arizona put away the Lebanon national team with a small-ball lineup of Kylan Boswell, Love, Lewis, Pelle Larsson and Johnson. This is the changeup Lloyd was missing a year ago, and his collection of international bigs allows him to play huge lineups too.
Strengths
+ Pace
+ Depth
+ Post play
+ Team speed
Question Marks
- Caleb Love’s shot selection
- Replacing Azuolas Tubelis
- Can defense be elite?

I'm good with 8th. Feel like our ceiling is national champs and our floor is S16.

I think we will see CTL is willing to lose some to really test his team and see where they stand. The games will be good ones with many different styles. From dominate big men (Duke/Purdue) to race horses. We will know our strengths and weaknesses plus this will be good for development and exposure.

This is how you get a high seed in March. Like TC said, we don't need to win all of these games. The committee has a history of rewarding teams with harder schedules.
I haven't been this excited for a hoops season for a while. What a bizarre but loaded roster, and what a schedule!

Wow, nice pull Tommy.

I think we are a top 20 team if a lot of upside. We are losing the top scorer and rebounder in the league which is a huge loss. I think Johnson will be an improvement on the defensive side and I think we have more versatility then the last couple of years. If we can hold the boards I think we can be really good especially if the power/small foreign forward is as aggressive and good as he has looked.

Per Pascoe it was Colorado.
Good on Colorado. Well done doing this for the betterment of the conference and the fans. Kudos

I can't wait for the season to start, Tommy has exceeded my expectations both years, this year I expect a 4-5 seed with about 7 to 8 losses maybe up to 4 or 5 losses in the non con and play in the finals of the pac 12 tournament. Let's see if Tommy can stay undefeated in Vegas this year!!
The PR guys are doing a great job with this kind of thing. It is entertaining and light hearted. This along with the "what position would you play" are examples of good creativity in the off season.

We give Colorado a lot of crap, but this was a real classy move. We'll be playing Colorado for years to come, but this could very well be our last chance to host UCLA, so I'm glad they respect the end of this rivalry enough to do this for us.
Also, can't freakin wait to get tickets to this game. McKale is going to be rocking!

I haven't seen anything about the game but Richard Jefferson talked about it on NBA today on ESPN and also said Bear Down on a segment that showed Aaron Gordon.
