Yes, he was listed. Decent review, both journalists wondering why he wasn't drafted.

Dude is consistently a positive in the plus/minus which is amazing if you realize how infrequently the Sixers as a whole are in the plus.

TJ is an absolute stud. 1 assist short of a triple double. Check out the videos at the link.
"Moral of the story: Doubt T.J. McConnell at your own peril.
He made his first start of the season Sunday night — Bayless is out again with a wrist injury and Rodriguez was ill — and came up one assist short of his first career triple-double. He had 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Sixers won at the Detroit Pistons 97-79.
McConnell nearly had the late assist he needed, but Robert Covington‘s layup rimmed out as he was fouled in the final two minutes.
“The guys come up to me and told me that I was one assist away,” McConnell said his postgame interview (which you need to watch below for some shenanigans from a teammate).
“I didn’t really care about it. They wanted me to get it more than I did. I was just worried about getting us a W, and we came out with one. But I told Rob — because he wanted me to get it so bad — that if he wanted me to get one, why didn’t he just finish that last layup?”"
when are the Sixers going to figure out it is OK to admit you didn't draft the right guy and just play the one that gives them the best chance to win?
I am not saying TJ is a franchise guy, or that they could go forward not looking at PG as a position of need. But what they have isn't it...whenever TJ is given a chance, he shows it. +/- and PER can be illuminating, but don't always tell the story for a player getting sporadic minutes or majority minutes with other bench players. I don't know if the stat is available, but it certainly seems like his efficiency is elevated when given starter minutes.

The easy answer to your question is that it's Philly. A place with as unhappy a fanbase as any you'll see anywhere. A place where Santa gets booed and their stars are constantly harassed and derided as not being nearly perfect enough for their needs, until they latch on somewhere else or retire and then all of a sudden they're saints who can do no wrong (ahem... Iverson, Dr. J, Randall Cunningham, Eric Lindros, Steve Carlton, Terrell Owens, Ron Hextall, Ryan Howard, Lenny Dykstra, Donovan McNabb, etc).
You'd think TJ would be the working man's hero Philly needs, but he's not Iverson . . . and Iverson wasn't Dr. J, and Dr. J wasn't Moses Malone, and on and on it goes. Their fans won't ever be happy, but they'll certainly let you know that some slow undrafted white dude definitely isn't the answer to the team's needs no matter how well he plays.

TJ would be adored in most other cities in a similar role. Chi is right about Philly fans, I stopped searching for TJ hits on twitter bc of the consistently nasty things that are said about him. Philly is probably one of the most racist cities in the country too, both whites and blacks. I've been around Philly guys of both races and they didn't even hide it.
As far as their performance goes, if TJ shot a little better he would separate himself from Rodriguez. Hes got the upper hand on Rodriguez in several advanced metrics, but Sergio is more experienced, and he is the better outside shooter and scoring threat which does mean something on this particular team. Watching the actual games, I think the team likes playing with TJ more and when he is in w the starters the team plays with a bit more energy. They are certainly more fun to watch. TJ just has to continue to make strides in his shooting and he has the chance to stay in the league for a while.

Philly is still a bad team. It's hard for a fan base to have a lot of positive thoughts about any player when your team is last in the league.
TJ has already vastly exceeded expectations by sticking on a roster. It's no slam if he is not the pg of the future. There are plenty of guys who would kill for what's he's done, and he deserves every minute of it.

I know I've said it before, but it never ceases to be hilarious that in the middle of a historically bad streak, the one player that guy hates the most is the UDFA playing well above what was expected for him.
Not the three top 3 picks who can't lead the team to semi-decency. Not the organization. Not the coach.

Here is his write-up after the game...
Solid
TJ McConnell- I have to admit TJ actually looked a lot better scoring the ball at times and even not necessarily played tough defense but forced turnovers early and was even making some decent passes early -especially on the break. However, he eventually went back to playing the way he plays and was a big reason why Detroit was able to get back into this game. He also started trying to point fingers at other players when in reality he wasn't guarding the opposing point guard and was standing around the paint to pad his rebounding stats like he usually does. Only reason this is in the "Solid" category is because of what he did early. It was far from a "brilliant" performance by TJ.
What a chode. And is English his first language? He's a blogger with less than 200 twitter followers who writes sentences like, "I have to admit TJ actually looked a lot better scoring the ball at times and even not necessarily played tough defense but forced turnovers early and was even making some decent passes early -especially on the break."
Holy shit, I think it's Cordera....

Ive never seen a guy record a triple double or been a board or an assist short of such be rated in a tier that is third beat among players for an individual game. You would need to play complete dogshit defense or have 7 or 8 turnovers and even then who knows. Especially when that guy is an UDFA who is typically a reserve. 9 assists to 3 turnovers, which were further mitigated (not needed) by three steals.

When i want a laugh, especially after the Sixer's win, i go look at what TJ's biggest fan has to say. Here is what he wrote after that win.
Literally none of the passes by TJ in that highlight video were good or on the mark. That's hilarious. Like how are you a point guard again?

Totally agree. Honestly I think it's hilarious we have this random KU fan who feels the need to continuously post here, and I think it's all because Zeus chose us over them. It's almost like he was so insulted by this injustice that he decided he would troll this site for the rest of eternity. The best part is that he cheers for one of the true blue blood, top 4 programs in the whole country yet feels threatened by little old us!
And of course being like PGU is the last thing we want.

It's way more than Zeus. His butt hurt goes all the way back to a certain game in '97.
He did several ban worthy things in the past, but hasn't done anything lately here at BDW.
At TOS he was confined to one thread because of his posts and kept on a very short leash.

Continuous blatant trolling. Not good at it, but I have to tip my cap to him - to be able to go into hostile territory and keep a straight head on all the time deserves props. He hasn't lost his cool and given much ammo outside of the act itself.
