Looked like an AAU game with the total lack of defense out there. LM faced tougher defenses in college.

This is a common misconception about the NBA. The adage about a good offense beating a good defense (especially with today's handcheck rules) is true. NBA players have such a high skill level that when stuff is clicking, teams that play D with full effort get gashed.
The comparison point is that Lauri was working with PJC last year at point. This year, it's Kris Dunn, who was an all american in college and is just another guy in the NBA. That's how high the skill level is, and it's why it's actually probably going to be easier for Lauri in the NBA. He's playing with guys who can create for him in a way we couldn't last year.
The Bulls have Valentine on the wing in their ex-NCAA all american rotation too.

Bulls are really tough to guard when they have Mirotic and Lauri playing together, especially if their pg can do stuff, which Dunn has finally started to do. Unless Lopez is playing, they generally have five capable shooters on the court.

TFerg dropped 24 points in a start for OKC. Technically doesn't count but that's fine.
I like the joking from Luke but he's probably better off ignoring it in the media. Especially with Carlisle publicly coming to his defense (and other coaches privately).

Derrick Williams thinks the G League is a joke and went to China for a month
I signed with a team in Tianjin , China for a month to work on my overall game .. sometimes it’s not about where you are .. it’s about where you are going .. nothing much more to say other then that .. I chose not to play in the D league not because I didn’t want too.. but I’m not here for jokes and I want to play at a high level. This trip is more then basketball but more mental relief then anything. Thank you all for your continued support and I will continue to post not only for people who want to be great .. but who are on the road to greatness.

Is that the same tough minded Dwill that we knew and loved and was the #2 pick in the draft?

Lauri dominating at MSG right now. 7 threes, 25 points through 3 quarters

He’s also playing some really nice D on Porzingis and has totally tired him out making him chase him all around the perimeter.

33 and 10
8 of 15 from 3
5 of 5 ft
And you can tell he’s just scratching the surface as far as knowing the subtle nuances of the game. Every timeout he is absorbing everything the coaches and players have to tell him. It’s pretty awesome.

Imagine if college basketball had the 3 year rule football did and we had him as a 21 year old Junior 0_o
Lauri out Porzingised Porzingis, and that isn't easy. The comparisons to Dirk really aren't crazy, and his play is proving that. Yeah, a lot depends on how he develops, but the raw ability is clearly there.

Yeah, sushi, and a potential high draft choice last year said Phil coerced him to eat an octopus tentacle.

Lauri had 19 points and 3 steals in another Bulls win.
Chicago is falling in love with him and no one is talking about missing Jimmy Butler.

That was a trade that wound up being good for both teams. Butler is good, but Chi was missing so much around him that by the time they had pieces, he would probably be in decline. Minnesota is in win now mode and got a star to do it with.
Chicago got a young core of Dunn, Lavine and Lauri to start building around. All of those guys are short of their prime and you've reset their process to try to add pieces in time to coincide with those guys hitting their prime. Mirotic isn't so old that you don't think he can be part of that too.
Stephen Curry’s words sliced through the cold, gray Chicago morning like a knife through saganaki. Was Lauri Markkanen listening?
“He needs to slow down,” the Warriors All-Star said of the Bulls’ prized 20-year-old, “and stop breaking all those three-point records for rookies. I was pretty proud of a couple, being in that group, so he’s got to slow that down.”
OK, not really. Curry, the greatest three-point shooter of all time — some would say the greatest shooter, period — didn’t issue a threat to, or even talk any trash about, Markkanen after the Warriors’ shoot-around Wednesday at Roosevelt University. Rather, he lavished the 7-footer with praise.
“He’s an amazing talent that’s brought an extremely unique skill set, I think, at his height and size to be able to put it on the floor and be able to shoot the way he does and score in a lot of different ways,” Curry said. “And he’s only going to continue to get better. . . . He’s going to be a force to reckon with as he goes through his career.”

RHJ with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 block tonight. SJ also had 18 points off the bench (still rehabbing hip).
