11 Nate Phillips
Phillips is a 5'7", 186, Senior receiver from Chandler, AZ. After a down Sophomore season due to injuries, Phillips rebounded to catch 44 balls last year for 564 yards and 4 TDs. That is still less than his Freshman year when he was a Freshman All-American, but it does make him our leading returning receiver as well as second on the team in career starts. For his career, Phillips has 120 catches for 1532 yards and 13 TDs. Also, last year Phillips had his first punt return for a TD against Wash St.
Phillips will start as a slot receiver this year, but is capable of playing every receiver spot and they have put him out wide on some sets. Phillips is as capable as anyone of being our leading receiver and I would love to see him exceed the 51 catches and 7 TDs from his Freshman year. He may also start as our punt returner. For his career he has 20 returns for a 10.7 yard average and 1 TD and has shown the best hands of any of our returners.
Oh, also he can make the clutch catch in double overtime.
11 is the Arizona record for TD receptions in a season shared by Austin Hill 2012, Juron Criner 2011 and 2010, Mike Thomas 207, and Theo Bell 1974.
11 is also the Wildcat record for TDs in a game set by the 1921 team against UTEP and accomplished again last year against NAU.
