Coach Addae is starting his second year with the safeties. He played his college football at West Virginia where he was a 2 time team captain, 3 time all-Big East selection, and 4 year starter as a defensive back. He spent one season in the NFL with Tampa Bay (Addae's home town) and Indianapolis. Here's his coaching history:
Lots of reasons for optimism for Addae and the defensive secondary. Addae now has worked a year in Yate's system, Hayes and Flannigan-Fowles are 2 of the top returning defensive players, and he has a lot of young, talented players to give us depth at safety. 36.3% was our 3rd down conversion rate last year which was next to last in the conference. Ucla was last with 35.2%. Now we were last in the league in allowing the opponent to convert on 3rd down 52.6% of their attempts. A full 4% behind Oregon at 48.5%.
