Mitchell is a 5-9, 175, Freshman wide receiver from Desert Pines HS, Las Vegas, NV. Mitchell has waited a long time to be a Wildcat. He tore his ACL during the first game of his Senior year and was forced to grey shirt last year. Coach Sumlin should get a lot of credit for honoring the commitment to Mitchell he enrolled in January and had 3 catches during the spring game which tied for the team high with 5 other players. Mitchell should be in the mix at slot receiver and this article from NevadaPreps talks about his recovery from his injury.

Here’s what Coach Aych had to say on Mitchell when he broke down the inside receivers last week:

: “He’s going to be a guy that you guys will be asking a lot more questions about the next couple years. He’s a very smart player. Even though he is a true freshman, he should have been in the class with Jamarye and those guys. He’s a little bit older freshman, so he brings that maturity level, that work ethic and just high character to the room.”

If healthy (he had a minor hand injury early in camp) he is likely to travel to Hawaii and be part of the playing rotation.
