Re: (M) Game 4, Arizona vs Wichita State (2021-2022)
It's been a long time since I've looked forward to UA games like I am this weekend. As CTL stated, this will be the first true test on where UA stands. I'm optimistic. From what I've seen the Cats are talented from with their first 9 players. And any one of them could be starters. Our biggest weakness is PG, and yet most of the wings can handle the ball.
I really want to put things into perspective on where the Cats stand, and this weekend will measure that well. I am not caring about winning as much as the team playing better competition to expose our weaknesses. Nor do I care about rankings this early in the season. The key is growth of the team. This weekend we should see what needs to be fixed. Even if the Cats win the mini-tournament they will find out more about themselves. Tougher competition is always a good thing, especially with a team that can handle it.
I am looking forward to the Illinois and Tennessee games on the road. That will test character. For this team I believe this is a great schedule. Why?
The pattern that I see is that this team has the potential to be one of the greatest teams Arizona has ever had. The fact that our captain is a sub (Kier) speaks volumes. Of course I could be wrong and will have to eat crow. Also unexpected events can happen (like injuries).
My final observation is that hiring CTL may be one of the best decision Robbins made. Transition is in the air. Roy Williams is gone, Coach K is leaving. This is an early assumption, but we may have found a gold strike again. Time will tell. If CTL is genuine, he is ours for the long term as long as we treat him right.
I loved some of Sean Miller's teams in his first years. Yet, I didn't enjoy his style of basketball. This is fun. The team is having fun. And my passion for college basketball has returned. What I have learned is the coach does make a difference in enjoying college basketball.

That is one heck of a post - could not agree more. Thanks for saying so eloquently what many of us are thinking.
Re: (M) Game 4, Arizona vs Wichita State (2021-2022)
Everyone agrees because we have been winning. We will see the verdict when or if they lose. Think the style of play will be very attractive to recruits as long as you win. Let's hope the train keeps going.
Re: (M) Game 4, Arizona vs Wichita State (2021-2022)
Yes, I like this a lot! I will say it’s pretty difficult to strike hold when hiring an assistant coach but Kansas did that with Roy and I have been very impressed with Lloyd except in the recruiting area which he seems to be brimming with confidence though.Catintheheat wrote: Fri Nov 19, 2021 9:46 am It's been a long time since I've looked forward to UA games like I am this weekend. I really liked the point of Duke and NC being in transition and the hint we may have times it perfectly. I just wish we could get this FBI/NCAA thing over and done.
The combination of these players having habits and knowledge defensively from Miller coupled with CTL offense is an exciting combination but we will know more this weekend for sure.
My gut says we see two impressive wins but that might be fueled by my fandom
Waiting at the Rose Bowl patiently for the cats to arrive

Same here - just realized it's ESPNU and my Xfinity package doesn't include it.
EDIT: Looks like I can watch on laptop/phone/Roku with the ESPN app using my Xfinity account even though I don't have ESPNU in my package.

How early do we need to get there?
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

I think UA should be favored by over 10, thinking 14.5. WSU has played shit teams and hasn't been impressive beating them. Their stats are in the close to 300 range and they are playing the biggest team in the country.

ESPN shows the Michigan game as being on Saturday because it starts at 12:30AM EST as does CBS Sports web site. East coast bias
