Mexico City

Catching a redeye this Thursday night to Mexico City. Returning Sunday night so it's a quick and dirty trip to visit my step son and check out the anthropology museum which I've wanted to do for some time.

I'm very interested in Mayan history, architecture, and knowing more about their scientific knowledge. I'd also like to see some of the masks and artifacts recently excavated from royal tombs. It fascinates me that while we tend to have a belief that Europeans and Asians were more advanced in most things, the Mayans were far more advanced in some things-especially astronomy.

Anyway, I think a full day at the anthropology museum will suffice and looking for suggestions on a way to spend another day there.

Thanks!

The Mayans were in 'meso-America' (Yucatan and south). No where near Mexico City - that was the Aztecs.

But that's OK, they were/all interesting and worthy of study. The museums in Ciudad Mexico are brilliant. If you can fit it in try to visit Teotihuacan.

Yes, I know this and I know the difference between the Mayans and the Aztecs. But I'm told that the museum has extensive exhibits on the Mayans.
