Bear Down Wildcats

We're going to Scotland and Ireland for two weeks in May. Pretty much have our itinerary down. It's pretty packed but was just wondering if anybody has any hidden gems anywhere in the cities or countryside?

Visit the local distilleries in any town you spend time in.

We're planning on hitting many different bars at night. Definitely going to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, but don't have any whisky places planned ..... yet.

We did a month: prolly 10 days in Edinburgh and then the rest on the road based out of Inverness. RR up to Inverness was easy, and car rentals to venture to the Highlands, Isle of Skye, Aberdeen, and through the lowlands was quite easy. Maybe 8-10 whisky distilleries in all, maybe. Why is my memory vague?

I think an Irish Poets and Pubs type vacation theme would be cool. Looking forward to your tales.

We’re renting a car and driving everywhere, hopefully on the left. Only spending 3 days in Edinburgh unfortunately but spending a night in Inverness and Isle of Skye. YouTube videos look amazing in Skye.

We’ve gotten to where we’re a couple of old fuckers now so we’re not gonna get wasted every night. Would suck waking up and driving to our next destination.

Oh, I got ya. I bet we're older than y'all. One has to drive while the other gets to ... sample .... until the driving is over and balance ensues. When you get to Skye it will be unlike anything in your experience, and the landscape will unfold unforeseeably. The Scots are ruddy robust and irreducibly good people who recognize good in other people. Whisky is a metaphor of their own landscape, nature, and history, and by the time you get to Skye it will have crept into you in ways you won't understand until you return home and have a dram and realize what changes have taken place while being amongst them.

Went to Glasgow for a wedding and it was super awesome. Went to London and Dublin as well.

The Guinness brewery was a really cool thing we really liked

Flying in and out of Glasgow so spending a couple days there. One day completely booked. Gonna drive out to St. Andrew’s and check out the Old Course, and of course gotta go to the castle from Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

There’s also an owl sanctuary just outside Glasgow and my wife is an owl freak. Booked a session where she gets to interact with the owls. Won’t make it to London this year but already discussing it for next year.
