I heard he went to the Campbell bridge and bailed.

That looks like the Hacienda del Sol area. That’s the condos that used to be apts right by the river.

also, barely a few drops of rain where I'm at yesterday :( rain just went around us.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Ehhh, they can still be dangerous. I once saw a Dust Devil blow out all the windows and fuck up a McDonalds in Tacumcari, NM, and those don’t even get spawned by thunderstorms.

Depending on what weather app you use Im seeing a 30-70% chance of rain starting tonight thru July 17(Weatherbug). Dew Point is still 60°

RainLog already shows the Foothills with 2.5-3" of rain in the last 2 weeks. Thats exactly what they got from May - Aug 2020. This monsoon season is off to a great start

One of the bigger storms I've seen. Didn't get completely hammered at my house but had off and on heavy rain for like and hour and a half and had some wind gusts at least 50 mph and I've never seen as much lightning as that. For an hour straight there was multiple flashes every second.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

But stay inside!

TUCSON (KVOA) - The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality is set to issue a High Pollution Advisory for ground-level ozone air pollution for the Tucson area.

Any individual that is sensitive to air pollution may experience shortness of breath, coughing, throat irritation, wheezing and breathing discomfort. Ozone levels may be elevated this weekend.

Any individual that may be sensitive to air pollutions should limit your level of exertion outside between noon and 6 p.m. During this time frame, elevated levels of ozone pollution are more likely.

That was a violent storm Saturday. Roofs blown off, trees uprooted, streets flooded all over mid town plus the haboob sand blasting. I was at the Sugar Skulls game when it hit but getting home was interesting. Turned off Ft Lowell and came up on a 3' deep rapid stream. A friend recently moved into a 2 story home in Marana. Had to wake the kids up and bring them downstairs as the house was shaking and the windows were buckling.

If the forecast is correct we should pass last years rain total by Sunday. Weds/Thursday may not even hit 90°

I saw one uprooted palo verde on Treat Ave. this morning. Hadn't heard about the roofs. I'm in a neighborhood of flat packed roofs instead of tiles or shingles, so that seems unlikely here.

Saturday was wild up this way too(Maricopa). 26 trees uprooted just in the Frys Parking Lot here. Had 3 Trees fall into customers yards from HOA territory(hated the hell out of those trees so it will be a good thing long term). Supposedly had over 80mph winds in some spots.

Looks like Tucson is about to get smashed again tonight.

Honestly after double checking radar please be safe tonight Tucsonians. Looks like some very strong cells are going to converge over Tucson/Marana.

Saw some of the solar covered parking spots at Texas Roadhouse were collapsed this morning when I drove by.

All the soil from everyone's yards got power-washed into the streets, turning them into dirt roads. The ground is still wet and the washes are still full of water but not flowing.

Some of the videos from Germany are hard to believe. So much water.

A friends house got flooded in Sam Hughes earlier this week. They live off Olsen south of 6th and had water come in all 4 exterior doors. Wood flooring is a total loss and since its not in a flood zone they didn't buy flood insurance. There's a water line stain on the exterior of the house 5" high and the top 1" was above the threshold. We went to Hi Corbett to get sand bags.

Here's our rainfall since June 30. Check out west of downtown, over 5" in less than 3 weeks.

Some of the flood insurance stuff is ridiculous. I owned a townhome for 15 years around Campbell and Fort Lowell that was NEVER in any danger of flooding even with the heaviest rains. Yet we had to pay $30,000 PLUS in flood insurance premiums over those 15 years on a $95,000 mortgage.

My folks live out of the floodplain, on a hill. Have to pay through the nose for flood insurance. A buddy of mine lives in Continental Ranch (Cortaro/Silverbell) about 100 feet from the Santa Cruz. Doesn't have to pay flood insurance because the river channel has concrete banks...

In serious floods, the concreted channels actually make flooding worse, not better. It might be next month, or 50 years from now, bit his home will be in the channel at some point.

I read some meteorologist being really pessimistic that this all still less than normal not to count on there being enough in August and September. I felt like sending him a notice advising him of his future disappointing meal the next time his car inevitably breaks down in Gila Bend.

Well a lot of town only needs 1-2 more inches of rain in the next two months to get to normal monsoon levels. Some parts still need like 5 inches. But honestly just another 4-5 good storms in the next 6 weeks or so will be good enough to stop the bleeding from the drought in the short term.
