Don't really have a generic Tucson thread but this place seems as good as any. On Tuesday the 25, the city started releasing treated effluent water back into the Santa Cruz at about 29th Street in order to start rebuilding the river and the groundwater around it. The river hasn't flowed regularly since the 1940s because of groundwater pumping but before that it was a running river year round through Tucson that supported wetlands and wildlife from beavers to otters to several fish species to cranes. They say the river should be flowing year round again at least through the main part of town along I 10
