Hot/Not update and bracket idea...
Flippantly last night I thought up coming to an end of traditional Hot/Not votes and transitioning into a March Madness style either/or, head-to-head matchups.
I propose we do an expedited Hot/Not round to conclude voting, then the top-63 get automatic invites to the dance, with every other bubble Hottie over 50% battling in their own either/or tournament to create one Hottie to battle #64 in a play-in round to take on #1, Kate Upton.
I figure we do two matchups a week from there until the Sweet 16, then only one per week.
The inaugural winner will be enshrined in a forth-coming HOF thread.
Then going forward, we can identify challengers to the thrown, each facing off in similar mini-brackets with the winner facing off every end of year vs. Reigning #1.
The voting already tallied has generated seeds, so it can now be used to actually quantify our subjective assessment.
Please vote here with a "yes" to pass this proposal or "no" to fail it.
In one week I will finalize it's tally and conclusion.

Hold on, maybe there's something I'm not understanding. I like the tourney idea, but why would we have to put an end to the straight Hot or Not polls? I really like those. Couldn't we do both?

Conclude for this round. Keep reading. I make the process a yearly thing with an outcome being a yearly challenger to the thrown.Longhorned wrote:Hold on, maybe there's something I'm not understanding. We can allow previous Elite 8 contestants to be entered, then add new names yearly, determining whether (still) Hot/Not, etc, then move into mini brackets, the winner of which faces off with the reigning champ.

Same here. I voted 'no' since I don't want the regular "hot or not" to end.
As not a fan of TV or pop culture, I really don't know a lot of these people, and really enjoy exposing mys... I mean getting exposed to these people. That True Detective actress for one.

Okay, well that sounds great, then. I like new ideas that Take This Board in a Direction that No Board Has Gone Before.
Re: Hot/Not update and bracket idea...
Keep the original going. It allows for the best out of 52 (1 a week) to be used in the bracket each year.

Re: Hot/Not update and bracket idea...
The idea isn't to end the traditional, but bring to a conclusion this years round and love towards head-to-head.
So, let's just say:
Jan-July is traditional
August is Bubble
September-a October is 64-16
November-December is 16-Title Match
Make sense?
This is the inaugural. Any new names should be compiled and then voted on at the years beginning.
Due to is starting a bit late, that's why I have the poll to expedite remaining names, most of whom are obvious bubble candidates anyways, then expedite bubble round, then expedite tourney so we have a champ by New Years.

That's just not fair. Hottest woman of 1970+ going against the hottest woman of 2000+?

Should we save the the on deck crew for next year? It'll only be a few months?
Just go forward with my plan?
Looking at azgregs list, I'm intrigued. But we need to have the bubble round for the handful of 50% on up to Kendrick.
Let me figure that part out.

No. Strict percentage-based, single bracket elimination.Longhorned wrote:We don't do 4 "regionals" of 16 each?
Creating regions requires time and subjectivity in approach. This way it's clean, simple, straightforward.
We have these bubbles. A part of me thinks Kendrick should be here, with the 8 becoming #64.
Paulina Gretzky - 55.26% (Volume 109)
Susanna Hoffs - 55.00% (Volume 32)
Eva Longoria - 54.17% (Volume 9)
Jennie Finch - 53.42% (Volume 48)
Kate Winslet - 53.33% (Volume 51)
Sharon Stone - 50.91% (Volume 35)
Rosario Dawson - 50% (Volume 98)
Anna Kendrick
Rosario Dawson
Paulina Gretzky
Sharon Stone
Susanna Hoffs
Kate Winslet

Re: Hot/Not update and bracket idea...
My thinking is:
Master 1-64 bracket.
After each round, we look at who remains, reshuffle so remaining top seed always plays remaining bottom seed, and so forth. We have the master list of percentages. It'll be pretty easy.
If we start next week on the bubble bracket, the schedule will be:
Oct 1-7: Bubble Rounds 1
Oct 8-14: Bubble Rounds 2/Play-In game
Oct 15-21: 32/30/28/26/24/22/20/18
Oct 22-28: 16/14/12/10/8/6/4/2
O/29-N/4: 31/29/27/25/23/21/19/17
Nov 5-11: 15/13/11/9/7/5/3/1
Nov 12-18: bottom remaining 8
Nov 19-25: top remaining 8
N/26-D/2: bottom remaining 4
Dec 3-9: top remaining 4
Dec 10-16: bottom remaining 2
Dec 17-23: top remaining 2
Dec 24-30: Title
This looks like it works.

So, to confirm:
1. All those in waiting will be delayed until New Years
2. Next week starts Bubble Round (4 matches)
3. Following week is conclusion of Bubble Rounds (2+1 matches)
4. Real Tournament follows...
Ground rules:
1. No multiple votes
2. Can change a vote
3. One week per round
4. Any tie will be broken by the total of posted votes
5. If remained tied, original % dictates
6. If remained tied, best boobs wins
7. Visual content should largely be supplied by voters, not thread creator.
