IMO that would be a terrible hire and a career ebder for Capel although he could definitely get several years to be mediocre
Given Capel's crash and burn at OK, ASU is as good a spot as he could land. His only other option is to be a Duke assistant coach until people forget what happened in Norman.

Joshie would rather be shitcanned...at least his wallet would. Capel would be an amazing hire for ASU...as in an amazing amount of heat by the NCAA...

Last I read he was trying to catch on in the D League.

He had an offer from Arizona, can you imagine what Miller could have done with him? Assuming of course he wasn't dropped from the team.

Josh would make far more money having a terrible 2015/16 season at Memphis and being fired than he would taking the asu job.

Yeah, but no coach wants to be "fired". The same way that nobody wants to be turned down for a head coaching vacancy so they "take their name out of consideration".

Quick, someone start the rumor that Anderson is interviewing Jahii for the job. Twitter's good for that I hear...

That's what their team looked like this year (at the beginning of the year I remember thinking they might only win fourish games with their miserable lineup), but Herb molded them into something resembling a college team.

And then, of course, was fired for it.

I love how ASU extended coaches contract and fired them the year after. It happened with Ericson and now with Sendek.
Talk about wasting money.

I really hope they get Capel, who sounds like another Sendek in younger form. I agree with others how delutional Devil fans are. It seems like all coaches in their wishlist have tie with Arizona (Walton, Archie, Pastner, Jason Gardner). Good luck with that!

So in 24 hours they''ve already had a transfer and lost 2-3 2015/16 recruits, at least one of which was actually a pretty good 4 star player. I bet they have at least one of the 4 returning starters transfer too. whoever they hire might make them into an OK program but for the next 1-2 seasons they're going to be pretty terrible

Mike Moser, Abdul Gaddy and Jeff Withey can agree with that sentiment. Solomon Hill too also decommitted. Jerryd Bayless also left a year earlier than planned.

Not even a cup of coffee in the NBA for the first 2, and Jeffree is averaging 7 minutes a game with New Orleans.

Solomon Hill, who did recommit, averages 30 mpg.

He was granted a rare 11th year of eligibility because playing for UCLA is considered a hardship and gets special dispensation from the NCAA (please see "Josh Smith").

It just feels like that because he's fat enough to occupy multiple years simultaneously.

Hurley wouldn't be a bad choice. He could build the program up to mediocrity and then head off for greener pastures.

Asu rivals board has been dead since about 2008. Scout and cactus ranch are their only real boards. Considering how big their school and alumni bases are, their online presence is tiny.

Does Rivals not even care any more? Between the death of Goazcats and the ASU board and the rise of Scout it's like they have given up.

Doesn't seem that long ago when Rivals dropped uasports.net and picked up Goazcats since it has more action.

Withey (if everything else remained the same) would have meant a likely national championship in 2011 and a secure tourney berth in 2012. Of course, changing the past (as Marty McFly knows) can send you on a very different course, but Withey was the one that really would have affected our course.

Speaking of ASU, we are in the midst of a Final Four drought. We have as many Final Four appearances since 97 as ASU has total tournament wins (2). Because they suck.

Colangelo hand picking from his buddy coach K. He is credited with bringing in Parker and Okafor so I am sure ASSU thinks that will translate.

My colleagues are telling me its just a matter of time until Capel emulates Graham because well, its ASSU
