I am very happy that Miller is giving the bench some good minutes this year. In the off season he said he learned that lesson, and he's taking it to heart.

I doubt it's going to last. He is only during it for the Maui tourney

I cannot tell you how much I hope you are wrong on this. Timid and tired. That is what will happen, particularly to our bigs Zeus and Ashley, if Miller shortens his bench again. They will play timid, trying to avoid fouls, and they will be tired at winning time, the last 5-6 minutes or so. No way in the world we win a NC with a short bench.
Our talent and depth is second only to Kentucky. Cal runs in 5 at a time. No reason Miller can't do something similar. We shall see.
Go Cats!!

I'll take the other side. Seems like he likes our bench and trusts them. After last year's injury to Ashley, why not use the bench if they can handle it?
Plus, remember he was able to work with Donovan and others at USA, he said it was great for him and he learned a lot that he can bring back to Arizona. Maybe trusting the bench is one.

On another note, I must say I like the coaches all dressed alike and more casual. Looks better, more like a team, and must be more comfortable, too. Coaches aren't required to suit up are they?

This is how all coaching staffs dress in Maui.
It will be back to coat and tie back on the mainland.

I do not know the history of the tourney, but no one wears suits and ties on the islands. Even in situations where traditional "Business attire" would typically be worn - everyone wears aloha shirts. Doctors, business people, etc.
I learned that the hard way the first time I went there on business.

Why do basketball coaches where suits and ties? Miller has to be extremely uncomfortable all the sweating he does.
Should be something in between this:
and this:
ending up with something like this:

Coach Miller was chippy in his presser tonight. Haven't seen him like that in a long time, reminds me more of the old school stories you would hear Snow report back when he was a Xavier. Any reason why? Don't know if bad mood is the right word, but definitely wanted to put some reporters in their place. I actually love it, hope he never holds back, but wondering if anyone else noticed that?
Edit: Actually, he was chippy toward one reporter in general. lol. He's on his poop list.

Without having watched the presser, I'd venture to guess it was probably Bruce Pascoe, who Lute wasn't exactly fond of either. He's a total dweeb.

Saw some stuff on Twitter it was one of the younger/newer reporters. Maybe someone from the Daily Wildcat or something?

Brian Jefferies: So coach, the earth moved in McKale and we saw you play a possession of zone defense..."
Miller: "And what happened? We gave up a three...so you'll probably have to wait another 5 years to see that again"

My sources say he's unhappy. Tip of the iceberg. Unhappy with a reporter. That just doesn't happen. Ever. This is bigger than big. TMZ is on the case. Better hope Maryland has a good year.

My competition worked on the Wildcat six months ago. According to him, Pascoe and the Wildcat were both sending emails to Miller about the particulars of his contract renewal the ABOR recently approved and were shut down.
Not sure why my competition would be surprised at this. Miller can't comment on the specifics of contracts and would be the wrong person to talk about them even if he could.

that makes sense - you can tell by the reporter's voice that it wasn't pascoe. he was qualifying every word he was saying and ended up asking a 12-sentence convoluted question to CSM. @ the 3:00 and 8:45 marks in the presser vid, if anyone's still interested.
also - this is just me being super nitpicky and fussy, but i kind of hate how our beat reporters address miller as "sean" during the pressers and not "coach miller". i know we keep things casual in tucson and folks know one another personally, but it still seems a touch disrespectful compared to the way the media speaks with other college head coaches.

He may have made it a point, at some point, of calling him "Sean." If not, they should call him "Coach."

But if he did, that would be the lede. No harm in trying.

Looking Rat Packish. Loved the timeout up 30 when PJC's guy blows by him. Followed by another, where he says to Victor, "What offense are you running?"

In this interview with Bilas, is Sean Miller sitting on his couch in sweat pants with a remote control in his lap?
