Awful hire.
the Nebraska AD is just trolling the fanbase at this point. If you were gonna fire Bo you gotta make a HUGE splash of a hire. this is well....wow
I'd say this hire IS a huge splash...of a power #2 into a kohler upper deck.

wow...what a craptastic hire. Nebraska can look forward to tanking early season games and playing spoiler at the end.

does someone have a good MB link to follow the meltdown?

Thank god for Greg Byrne.

the most in depth and active nebraska board is cloaked in secrecy and is by invitation only. that is where the biggest melt down would be but it is privvy to the chosen few nebraska crazies

here's a good one though otherwise...

There's talk that Riley might bring Orgeron on at Nebraska. That could make things interesting. I'll be curious to see what he can do with a name school and better access to talent.

My goodness,

Mike Riley by all accounts is a nice guy and OK middle of the road coach for a lower level job. But that unrealistic pressure cooker at Nebraska is the antithesis of a laid back Oregon St Job where people will leave you alone for the most part.

The Mike Riley honeymoon in corn country will over quicker than a 16 year old getting his first shot of puntang. His annual tried and true records of starting the year 2-2 every year will be the fuse that burns the house down.

MR and his life long legacy of everything average is about to meet a category 5 shit-storm in Husker country.

I always thought of Riley as a good coach who couldn't find any consistency at OSU. Maybe that's just him, but probably has a lot to do with OSU.

I don't think he's the answer at Nebraska. But if he could put together top 25 teams at OSU... and really only needing to beat Wiscy to get to the B1G Championship game... he'll be fine there.

DONE DEAL - MUSCHAMP COMING TO SOUTH CAROLINA

Sources have confirmed that Will Muschamp will be South Carolina's new Defensive Coordinator. Sealing the deal is the opportunity to be South Carolina's Head Coach when Spurrier retires. Muschamp plans to bring several of his defensive coaches from Florida.
Muschamp's estimated salary will be $1.6 - $1.9 million.

Coaching searches are hard but damn, they aren't that hard!

McElwain to UF with $7M buyout, 61 year old Reily to Nebraska, 63 year old Butch Jones to UM? Considering these school's statuses, I'm not sure I'd call any of those hires (or potential hires) excellent, very good or even good considering the individual school's statuses. To call some of those hires "average" hires might even be generous.

Seeing all that it makes me appreciate Byrne's work getting RR to see the vision at Arizona. Honestly I look at those three hires/potential hires at these big time schools and I think RR is a better coach/would have been a better hire than all three of them.

Butch Jones is 46, not 63.

Lol I saw that name and for some reason did a search for Butch Davis. Mistakes like that mean it's more coffee time.

When was the last time Tennessee outside of their own state?

Arizona is relevant now. Don't see it happening unless it is a dream location for his family to live.

It's one of the 5 jobs that I've been told from day 1 to be concerned about. Florida, Miami, Clemson, Tennessee, and WVU

wvu? is RR even welcome there anymore? i know garrison's gone, but hard feelings linger around m'town. see: just 11% of WV voters -- a superset of WVU fans, yes, but still telling -- polled have a favorable opinion or RR (Sep 2013)

Won't ever happen while Oliver is still the AD. But still there is a reason why his buyout in his UofA contract is larger if he goes to WVU.

You have to wonder how RichRod is impacting the Michigan coaching search. Successful at WVU, less than successful @ UM and now has UA as a top 10 team. How many coaches want to step into a situation where the administration and athletic dept may not have your back? I guessing not too many.

Leach's buyout is way too heavy for a non-P5 school like Houston to make the push.

Leach is in Houston to recruit.

Might be using it for more $$, but Leach probably misses Texas and I think he would win big at Houston.

Heard a rumor that Hoke put down the comfort donut he was cramming into his mouth while sobbing long enough to text ntOSU back. If Hoke can wipe enough of the powdered sugar off the screen to see the response, it might be a good match.
