4 minutes left and north dakota state is up 34-14 on iowa state. 34 straight unanswered points by ndsu. ndsu has won 3 straight national titles and has 5 straight wins vs. FBS opponents. beat kansas in 2010, minnesota in 2011, colorado state in 2012, kansas state in 2013 and iowa state this year.

time for them to move to FCS.

In the category of "teams probably shouldn't be ranked until after the third or fourth week of the season", one wonders how far Ohio State should fall from #5 in the country when they give up 370 rush yards on 63 attempts for a 5.9 average (with, of course, the understanding that Navy was basically running on every play and even knowing that the Buckeyes were still giving up 5.9 per attempt) to Alabama....err, I mean Navy.

I was thinking the same thing-didn't someone pick them in survival pool?

My team is losing too (E. Carolina), but it's early.

Did they just score 3 TDs within 5 minutes of you posting this? The jinx lives.

So far I have the following questions.

1) Why the heck is there a ranking for the first one or two weeks? Does Ohio State look like a top ten team without Miller? Does South Carolina look like a top ten team? Does Washington look like a top 25 team? At this time they do not look like a team worthy of their rankings. Also, so tired of ESPN trying to sell us on the SEC.

2) Are Florida State, and Alabama going to lose more than one game this year? Lets not start selling WV as some kind of up and coming team, let alone Oklahoma State.

3) Why does week two have only two watchable games?

4) Can Oregon get over that hump? Big test this week from a Stanford like team.

5) How worthless is talking about who is "in" and "out" of the playoff picture after week 1?

-my prediction: 1 SEC team (Not Alabama), 1 Big 12 Team, and two Pac-12 teams (Oregon and UCLA/Stanford).

Two PAC 12 teams? Man I can't see that. I think Oklahoma and either BAMA or LSU get in along with one of the three PAC schools along with a team like
Florida St

OSUcat,

1. Polls are pretty meaningless at this point. My only caveat was that UW was missing Cyler Miles. We'll get a better sense when he's back.
2. The acc looks really poor, so who'll beat FSU? UF is pretty much it. Alabama is vulnerable, though.
3. The proliferation of week 1 specials, maybe?
4. Oregon/MSU is a big deal for both early. It should be a nice early test for Oregon against the type of team that's given them a lot of trouble.
5. There really isn't much of a point. It's more who has reason to be concerned (like UCLA).

My Prediction:

ACC: Fl St
B12: OU

Pac-12
SOS grade: A
Pac-12The skinny: The Pac-12 has the two best games in the country this week, highlighted by Oregon's game against 2014 Rose Bowl champs Michigan State. It only has two FCS opponents (Cal versus Sacramento State and Washington versus Eastern Washington) -- the fewest of any Power 5 conference -- and games against Fresno State, Nevada and UTSA won't be easy. It looks like an unofficial Pac-12-Mountain West challenge this week.
BIG TEN
SOS grade: A-
Big TenThe skinny: No game is bigger than Michigan State's matchup against Oregon, but Michigan is also playing Notre Dame -- a storied series that will end on Saturday -- and Ohio State's home game against Virginia Tech will also be interesting. Those games help compensate for the three FCS schools that are on the schedule (McNeese State, Howard and Western Illinois).
SEC
SOS grade: C+
SECThe skinny: There are three FCS teams on the schedule (Nicholls State, Sam Houston and Lamar), but East Carolina is catching South Carolina on the rebound, and Ohio and Toledo should be two of the better teams in the MAC in their respective divisions.
BIG 12
SOS grade: D
Big 12The skinny: There are only seven nonconference games, and four of them are against FCS opponents (Missouri State, Southeast Missouri State, Towson and Northwestern State). The BYU-Texas game should be the most intriguing in the nonconference lineup because the Cougars are expected to have all of their suspended players back and are coming off an impressive win over UConn. At least BYU, Tulsa and UTEP won their openers last week.
ACC
SOS grade: F
ACCThe skinny: Bring on the Buckeyes. Please. With six FCS opponents on the schedule this week (South Carolina State, Richmond, Gardner Webb, Florida A&M, Murray State, The Citadel), the ACC has the worst lineup of Week 2. The Big 12 was a close second, but it's not just the FCS opponents that are duds. Games against Tulane, Old Dominion, Troy and San Diego State do little to move the pulse.

The Big 10 showing well right now aren't they?

W. Kentucky at Illinois 17-14
McNeese State at Nebraska 14-21
Cent MIchigan at Purdue 21-7
Akron at Penn State 0-7
W. Illinois at Wisky 3-9
Howard at Rutgers 7-31

That was a tremendously depressing finish to the Nebraska game. Once bounce of the football and McNeese might have had a shot for a field goal in the last minute. Two plays later and Nebraska scores to win.

Yup. Bad losses by northwestern and Purdue. Iowa looked bad, so did Nebraska. Michigan and Ohio state are on track to lose. Michigan state lost. They are eliminated most likely.

Not only are they ranked 18th in the latest coaches poll, they are ranked ahead of a 2-0 Virginia Tech team... who just beat Ohio State.... by 2 TD's.... at home.

How do you possibly explain/ justify that?

There's probably no justification.

The explanation (at least for me) is: their system is broken.
