Barrett will also lose his scholarship for a term as part of his discipline for his arrest during the bye week, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said Monday.
Meyer said he reviewed the facts from the citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and backing without safety. He was stopped at a Columbus police checkpoint early Saturday morning.
An Ohio State spokesman confirmed to ESPN that Barrett's scholarship would be forfeited for the 2016 summer term.
Oh for sure.azgreg wrote:Joe back-up inside linebacker would have been kicked off the team.
This is in effect "fining" a non-employee. If he's on the team and participating, he should be on scholarship. If he's not on scholarship he should be able to transfer without penalty. Just my opinion...SCCats wrote:

Okkkkkkkk. That seems to say as punishment he's pulling his scholi for the summer term. Does that basically mean that, if Barrett wanted to take a couple classes over the summer for free he can't now, so he'll just be forced to go spend his summer out on the beach instead?
Still a bad precedent.ASUHATER! wrote:He won't even be on the team in the summer term. He'll already be in the nfl

I don't know. He wasn't drunk, but .0001 gets you a DUI when you're under 21.azgreg wrote:Joe back-up inside linebacker would have been kicked off the team.
