Just want to point out these facts in the link above:

» Currently ranked eighth nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, UA is in the midst of a 61-game streak in which it has not allowed an opponent to reach the 80-point mark.

» The Wildcats rank second in the Pac-12 with a +6.5 rebound margin as four UA players average better than 5.0 boards per game; Arizona is 11-0 this season and 107-20 (.843) in Miller’s tenure when it wins the battle on the glass.

» UA ranks third nationally and leads the Pac-12 with a 76.7 defensive rebound pct. and averages a +4.2-point margin in second-chance points; UA is also outscoring teams by an average of 8.6 points per game in the paint.

» On the strength of a two-point field goal percentage of .545 that ranks 20th nationally, Arizona ranks 14th in Division I with a .493 team field goal percentage for the season.

Hopefully the team takes Miller's words to heart and buries the Buffs early. A Pasch/Walton game is wasted when it's actually a game.

tucson.com/sports/blogs/pascoe/article_39d952ac-9c16-11e4-a21d-375f0421dfac.html
Jay Bilas’ workload is going a different direction this week.

That’s because ESPN is throwing him in with Bill Walton and Dave Pasch on the broadcast of Thursday’s Arizona-Colorado game.

“For me, it’s been an extraordinary week of preparation,” Bilas said. “I’ve been listening to a lot of Grateful Dead, burning incense and tie-dying my clothing in my backyard. So I think I’ll look good, smell good and I’ll be totally prepared if there’s any sort of reference to the Dead.”

While it might appear there could be a game within a game Thursday – who, after all, gets control of the microphone? – but Bilas is prepared for that, too.

“I’ve worked in three-man booth for a lot of years with Bill Raftery and Sean McDonough, so I’m used to not saying anything for long stretches of time,” Bilas said, on an ESPN conference call today. “I don’t anticipate it’ll be a problem at all.

Walton “has been working with essentially a mime in Dave Pasch, who speaks as often as Marcel Marceau. It’ll probably be just Walton speaking. Pasch and I will say hello and goodbye at the end.”

While it will be Bilas’ first college broadcast with Walton, Bilas said he actually worked with Walton on a pair of broadcasts featuring LeBron James with St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, against Oak Hill and Mater Dei.

On a serious note, Bilas said he did watch Arizona's loss to Oregon State and has seen a lot of UA games, and remains impressed.

“They’re obviously really good,” Bilas said. “They didn’t play as well on the defensive end against Oregon State, didn’t get stops in a possession game, but offensively they were pretty good.

“They’re not a team that scores easily and in a half court game you gotta get stops. And on the road, those games comes down to posessions. They’re not going to blow a lot of teams out even though they’re very talented. They’re not a great shooting team. But I like Arizona a lot I think they’re very good.”

So the official pregame notes by the Buffs include some gems:

If Scott plays, he’ll face a familiar nemesis: Wildcats junior center Kaleb Tarczewski. Scott and Tarczewski, two of the Pac-12’s three best centers, have battled to stalemates in their previous meetings. Scott is more skilled, Tarczewski bigger and more physical.

Despite his physicality, Tarczewski is a laughably bad rebounder for a seven-footer. He averages just over five boards a game and grabs only 12 percent of available rebounds while he is on the floor; centers ideally pull in at least 15 percent. If Scott doesn’t play, Wes Gordon should still be able to keep Tarczewski off the glass.

Colorado actually matches up fairly well defensively with the Wildcats — their half-court offense has frequently been inert under head coach Sean Miller, and this year is no different.

As long as we clog the lane, don’t give them anything easy at the basket, make them take a lot of 17-to-20-foot jump shots we’ll be just fine,” Buffs guard Askia Booker said.

CU should get good transition looks against Arizona. Its half-court offense, like the Buffs’, is often sluggish. The Wildcats are third in the Pac-12 in turnovers, but they’re ninth in assists and they don’t shoot threes or rebound well. If Colorado wins on the boards, makes smart outlet passes and runs like hell it could stay with Arizona.

So let's see...a 3 % variance is the difference between ideal and laughably bad? I'm not exactly thrilled with Tarc's rebounding abilities, but that's pretty funny.

Visiting a CU message board is like going to Wal-Mart. At first you are feeling bad about yourself and then you walk around a bit, see the disasters, then start feeling pretty good about yourself.

Buffs aren't even going to show up apparently, so time to catch some classic Walton-isms.
