I watched the women's game at Oregon before going to the men's game with Utah. The Cats made mistakes, and didn't make shots, but there was ridiculous one-sided officiating in Oregon's favor down the stretch, which obviously impacts mistakes, turnovers, and missed shots. It completely fueled Oregon's "big comeback" by gifting them with over-the-top calls for free throws, and it caused Arizona to play on eggshells. Oregon has a marginally talented moose of a center who was swinging elbows and smashing into people, with next to no calls for it, while the Cats got written up every few seconds from the front to the back of the rule book at both ends of the court. Adia surprisingly came right out and said the team got "homered" in the post-game interview. Good for her. Under the ever-present threat of a fine for anybody daring to talk about the emperor's new clothes, she walked it back in a tweet today and said she was just upset...but with every justification.

You mean that dickhead coach of Oregon? Did he do it during the game or after? Regardless that is unacceptable. I didn’t see where Adia mentioned him at all? Did she talk about him or just the refs?

Adia didn’t mention him by name but Shaina did (see her tweet above)

Adia is getting shit for flipping him off at the end of the game… but didn’t get into what initiated it

I really hope there is audio/video of this

I don't think the women shake hands after games any more, but would love to see the "wave" or whatever they do now.

Wow, so Adia gave him the finger after he was hurling insults in the game. Meanwhile the refs were getting worked by the Oregon staff/ crowd.

That sounds like the refs didn’t control a darn thing in that game. They got worked and let the coaches jaw at each other which isn’t good.

Adia apologized for her behavior but that dickhead at Oregon has not? Someone has to have video of this and this game has to be a prime time game on a major network, not the Pac

Ok so the above seems to say she didn’t flip off the Oregon bench? She certainly reacted in some way. This story is really juicy and probably good for the women's game even though the behavior was reprehensible

In my opinion women are always too quick to apologize for standing up to asshole men. It's expected of them. I wish she hadn't apologized and had just taken whatever fine would have come.

Oregon coach responds.

“I think whatever happened after, I think has kind of been blown up to be honest with you,” he said. “I don’t think it was anything more on either side that competitors do, you know what I mean. We compete and sometimes that’s not always pretty. I think that was kind of blown out of proportion.”

With all due attribution to Seth Rogen: He can blow it in any proportion he wants to. He's a jackass and a bully, and he coaches his players to act similarly. Meanwhile, it looks like the Pac-12 will just leave it as a slap on Adia's wrist for the mortal sin of criticizing their outrageously incompetent and regionally biased officials. Considering the conference gag rules and repercussions, how bad does it have to get before a coach is sufficiently provoked to speak out? I guess she gets to pick between Bobby Knight's infamous "lie back and enjoy it", Laura Ingraham's equally infamous "shut up and dribble", and Sean Miller's "he touched the ball!"

This is something that seems to be happening more and more. Our season-ending games at McKale against the LA schools will only be on P12LA, probably because P12N has some other game scheduled, and P12-Arizona will carry ASU's crappy team. Or something. Meanwhile, on the same tier and cost as the one for Tucson Comcast that provides only P12N and P12-Arizona, Spectrum in LA carries all the league channels. I get a sense that the squeeze is on. Maybe they'll change it later, or it will have the beneficial effect of even bigger crowds. But, also maybe part of our Brave New World.

There’s something odd about the background. I always wonder if practicing in Jefferson does not translate into shooting in mostly empty large arenas.

To be fair, Comcast gives you every Pac-12 channel for free on streaming.
