maybe - but I believe the overall profile of AZ will make the the three seed WEST Region regardless.

Pac12 outright Reg season and tourney champs in decisive fashion - the entire body of work is the theme and that includes the back quarter of the season too.

im still holding out for Duke
Xavier is the weakest #1 seed and will get shipped out West and UNC is the strongest #2 seed, that's how they always done things. Which is why I wanted a #4 seed the whole time whether it was vs Xavier or Kansas, better matchups in the S16

Overall #1 seed = weakest #2 seed
2nd #1 seed = second weakest #2 seed
3rd #1 seed = 2nd best #2 seed
4th #1 seed = best #2 seed

So that turns into

#1 Virginia = #2 Purdue
#1 Villanova = #2 Cincinnati
#1 Kansas = #2 Duke
#1 Xavier = #2 North Carolina

I want a #4 seed, of course there's a risk with getting a #5 Gonzaga or Kentucky in the Rd of 32
Your hope for a 4-seed makes sense, but that’s the problem. Not even match-ups matter in the tourney. Match-ups only matter when teams know each other. Xavier has some advantage over NC.

What is it that makes UNC so scary? Roy is an amazing coach and they’d have the advantage at Pg but otherwise the talent gap would be pretty extreme in our favor

I agree with this.

Gonzaga in the top half and AZ the three...any chance we get Duke? or is it 100% Carolina?
I expect that if Xavier is the 1, that Duke will be the 2. I think Duke is better than UNC.

The committee also likes story lines. I think a bracket of

1. Xavier
2. Duke
3. Arizona
4. Wichita State
5. Gonzaga
Filled out with Missouri and St. Mary's creates a realistic, and entertaining bracket with some good story lines to sell.

I'm not at all afraid of UNC.

Does anyone really believe that Luke Maye is the answer to "how do you stop Deandre Ayton?"

Id take UNC. Id also love nothing better than kicking Duke's ass in SoCal again. But man... thats a stalemate of a matchup if there ever was one.

Any school from the east that has to travel west to play the UofA should be worried.

Man - this Pac-12 tournament winning run really lifted our resume. Went from 3-3 in Q1 wins to 5-3 with 14 total Q1+Q2 wins.

Teams that have at least 5 Q1 wins and 14 Q1+Q2 wins...

UVA
Nova
Xavier
UNC
KU
UK
Arizona
WVU

Teams that won their conference season and conference tournament and have the above wins...

UVA
KU
Zona

There's a decent case to make for Arizona to be a two seed - especially if you start waiving off losses without key players (four of our seven).

I'm not buying that argument but it's one that could be made.

That's awesome.

Out of curiosity, wouldn't Kansas also meet the criteria of winning conference season and tournament and having the wins?

and id annually put Gonzaga in that conversation especially this year as a 4/5 and St Mary's to a lesser extent early.

AZ feels like a solid three seed WEST Region

Stewart Mandel has us as the FOUR SEED out West with Xavier, UNC, Texas Tech, (Arizona), Gonzaga, and Houston rounding out the top 6.

I'm not buying Texas Tech over Arizona for the three seed in the West though... TT has one additional Q1 win but two additional losses over a slightly lower SOS, with a much worse road record.

First round for us ok. Second round very tough. If we get to third, yes think Miller can figure out Bennett ball. A few weeks ago, Virginia held a team to 7 points for a half. We just get to 70 we'd win, and the rest of the bracket is crap, so it comes down to getting past Kentucky and Viriginia to get to the Final 4.

If we can defend like we did in Las Vegas and limit our turnovers we have as good a chance as any team to tear down the nets. The turnovers are what concern me the most.

Called it last night...........if we had lost we would be a 5 seed. The Committee was never going to do any favors for University 4.

My next fear is that the NCAA is going to ship 3 zebras from the Ed Rush school of officiating for our game with Buffalo.

BTW, BankokWildCat I am 34,000 feet over the pacific on my way to Shanghai........have you figured out how to stream the

Tell me this: How are Gonzaga and Wichita St ahead of us?

We were listed on top 16 4 weeks ago (WSU / Zags were not)
We finished 7-1 (WSU finished 6-2, Zags 7-0)
We won our reg season (WSU did not)
We won our post season tourney (WSU did not)

I just don’t think anything past January matters for this committee. The conference tourneys are just to scre over the mid majors who did well all season.

This was clearly a social experiment to see what would happen if you picked a bunch of people who don't watch basketball or know what a basketball choose a tournament field.

The committee blew it. The quadrant idea is silly and flawed. They should have slowly rolled in the concept. Instead they made the whole process about it.

The problem I have is that still doesn’t explain decisions like Gonzaga over Arizona. The numbers simply don’t support that.

Nope, think I had issues last year and missed the first and second round games but I did see the Xavier game....it varies year to year with the changing tech and geo blocking....the CBS app was so unreliable last year. Who knows this year but keep in touch via PM for strategies if you wish.

FirstRowSports always worked for me. Their pop up nonsense that you have to get through is very intricate and frustrating . . . but once you figure it out it’s not a big problem.

The Best (worst) could be Texas Tech. They were originally listed as #10, then proceeded to go (3-5) and they finish at #12
