i like Arizona as the #2 team in the nation at the moment - they wont be that high in the polls tho, i dont think... dispite Tim Brando's pleas to the AP voters.

look for them to land at #5 with three first place votes.

I'd be shocked if there were any. A couple of teams currently ranked ahead of us had pretty good wins.

Michigan lost at home to Minnesota.

That won't help our case for #1 or top 3 at the moment.

#8 with a bullet. The PAC championship still goes thru SoCal and we will know where we stand once conference play starts. Need to be prepared for Tenn. first but if we win that no lower than a 4 seed regardless.

Baylor is clearly #1 after that beat down of Nova. Nova may be a little overrated.

NC State snatched a loss out of the jaws of victory - they wont be, but Arizona should be ranked ahead of Purdue, Villanova for certain...they lost by 21 points today.

Here's how I think the top 10 will look tomorrow:

1. Baylor
2. Duke
3. UCLA
4. Gonzaga
5. Purdue
6. Kansas
7. Bama
8. AZ
9. Texas
10. Nova

AZ won't skyrocket as much as some are calling for since everyone ahead of us (save for Purdue) had a pretty good week. That 10 spot is interesting. Could probably make an argument for USC.

at min, Arizona should be ranked ahead of Villanova, Purdue, Kentucky, Texas, Alabama - after that its personal choice where you organize the top five after Baylor.

I'm with you on Nova, UK, TX and Bama, but Purdue has beaten UNC and Nova. Their only loss is a last second miracle vs. Rutgers. Kinda think they'll still be ahead of us.

Nova isnt that good - totally outclassed today at Baylor and UNC is good not great by any stretch. Purdue shoulda lost today to a crap NC State team.

Yeah. I mean, you're preaching to the choir. I'm just not sure the AP voters will drop Purdue that many spots. We'll find out soon.

This is why there should not be pre-season polls.

Purdue will be ranked ahead of AZ for 1 reason only at this point- voters thought Purdue was going to be very good and thought AZ was going to be mediocre before a single game was played... and now they can't justify Purdue falling more than a couple spots with a loss and AZ can only move up if teams lose ahead of them... does not matter that we are undefeated.

Seth Davis has *never* given love to AZ, even in years where we were a top 5 team. He will always find reasons to doubt us but exalt others.

This is all to say: you really shouldn’t spend too long thinking about this man’s opinion.

You can tell he’s an idiot because he makes the point “see you in Pauley” implying that we have not played anyone. I guess going to #13 Tennessee and possibly getting a win will mean nothing.

What a dick.

I realize Seth Davis says that winning is the criterion for his rankings, but Villanova's only meaningful win was against Tennessee on a neutral court. And yet he looks to the Pauley game as the justification Arizona will need to show him?

Do we come out of this stretch with only 1 loss?

Seth is simply promoting the product his company is selling. He mentions the game at Pauley because I believe they are covering it. He is right in the fact that we beat a two loss unranked team on the road. Those losses were without Kofi and other players. But is there any question that they are a top 15 team? I could care less about the polls right now but ask me in Feb where it starts to determine what your seed will be. If we beat Tenn. we will be no lower than a 4 seed.

People can say whatever they want about the Cry 'n Lie lack of ranking, who cares. Putting up 82 points in that hellhole cage match after a bollocks travel scenario is evidence of toughness that speaks to anyone who understands college basketball in totality. We earned respect from everyone who counts. Fuck the rest of them.

I think Andy is a bit overboard on Arizona. I would not have us as high as two. I would not have us over UCLA which lost their first or second game against the Zags. I watched UCLA play Marq. and the first 8 minutes of that game was some of the best basketball I have seen all year. I think the score was 22-4 or something like that. I think Seth's list is terrible but we haven't played a ranked team yet and will start to see where we really belong on that list. Just happy with the way we are playing. Glad we won at Ill. but would have been happy just seeing how these guys compete.

Tennessee has been inconsistent. USC has looked good, but their schedule has been a cake walk. UCLA plays great for 10 minutes and then Juzang starts chucking and they let teams back in the game.

If we give the same effort we did vs. Illinois, no reason we can’t win all three. But guys, realistically, that first loss is coming. I don’t need to be undefeated. I just wanna be well positioned for a high seed. We’d probably need to win the Pac to overtake Gonzaga for #1 in the west.
