According to the announcers we're the biggest team left in the tournament. Our size is gonna be a problem for every team we face.

That's a decent point. And the city of Houston is actually too far away to generate local bandwagoners. Bandwagoners don't travel.

What day/time is the Houston game on?

I need to know, because some folks showed up at my door with 3:00 or so left in overtime wanting to change my remaining old style bulbs to LEDs and install a smart meter monitor device. I almost took their heads off, but I maintained my dignity and told them OK but come back in an hour. (They sorta understood - they are passionate about their Indian cricket too).

They installed the meter monitor, OK (but it probably won't tell me anything my solar panel monitor doesn't tell me), but set up an appointment to change the lights for Friday.

If the lightbulb installer shows up during game time he'll probably have his head removed.

So, I've got 8 out of 16 in both my brackets.

EDIT: AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! The game is on Friday at 12:59pm my time. The light bulb installer is scheduled for "between 13:00 and 16:00. I will have to squire him around but can have the game on the TV downstairs and the TV upstairs, and maybe my tablet to carry around.

But I might just have started cracking a few by the time they get here, I hope they can take it.

It’s brutal. I didn’t get to sleep til almost 3. But we can be ecstatic the cats got the win! This team had too good of a year to lose in the second round to TCU. I still can’t believe everything went down the way it did. The Terry and Mathurin threes to save the season and the exciting dunks. Crazy.

AT did the same thing.
Did they have just as big a problem with Lampkin’s “too small” gestures, or his ridiculous hanging on the rim, or all the voluble shit he talked whenever he scored, screaming all the way up the court like an idiot?

No? Hmmm… it’s almost like they’re looking for things to be mad at because their team couldn’t make winning plays when they needed them.

Great win of course but really wish they would have put them away when there was about 7 to go and the Cats were up 9. Can't let an offensively challenged team like TCU mount that comeback. Up until then the game was going exactly the way I expected and I was completely calm. After that it was heart attack city.

Going forward, having a game that physical with no fouls being called should pay dividends in experience for the team.

Game ended around 9:40 Tucson time. Interviews, showers, travel to the airport, etc.

FROM THE FRYING PAN INTO THE FIRE!!!

Houston could prove to be a formidble foe!
Eamonn Brennan, college basketball staff writer, The Athletic:

The synergies between TCU and Houston are pretty significant. Both teams guard like crazy and thrive on offensive rebounds. The difference, of course, is that TCU came into this game ranked 26th in adjusted efficiency at KenPom.com; Houston currently ranks No. 2.

There is every chance the Wildcats' game against Houston looks almost exactly like this one, except against a team that does all of what TCU does at the highest level college hoops has to offer. In other words, it should be awesome.
FiveThirtyEight odds favor Houston:
Houston (5) — 54%
Arizona (1) — 46%

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/20 ... id=rrpromo
Bring 'em on!!!!

BTFD!!!!

Houston may be good at doing the same things TCU does, but what matters is how they do it.

This game won't involve "adjusting for the physicality" or getting mauled in the paint. The better team will grab more long rebounds and get to the rim more often.

Keeping Ballo on the floor together with Koloko will come with a different cost. Tommy may shut that down really fast.

Not underestimating them, but I think you got take a closers look at how the stats are generated

They did have 5 regular season games against Quad 1 opponents.

Unfortunately for Houston they went 1-4 in those games.

Stats are great, and can tell you a lot, but they can’t tell you who is going to win with 100% accuracy.

No one is commenting that it could have been a backcourt violation
No one is commenting that it could have been a flop
No one is commenting that TCU could have just won in OT
