PAC 12 Basketball 2014/15 - Dumpster Fire?

I'm looking at the state of the PAC12 and outside Arizona, don't see another top 25 team ... maybe Utah?

Could be another one of those years where the PAC 12 gets slammed on ESPN.

p.s. love how you can easily edit thread titles.

It's gonna be Sloth Fratelli ugly.

And no amount of "Hey You Guys!" will garner national attention.

Good thing Arizona is the Superman capable of breaking the zoo-strength confinements, though.

But gaining positive press will be a Rocky Road for most everyone else.

I can see why people argue why we need a rival - even if the rest of the PAC stinks.

utah and ucla and stanford should be tournament teams. oregon, cal and colorado are all borderline tournament teams. washington, washington state, usc, oregon state, and asu will be terrible.

we're the only team that's top 15-20 quality though.

Was this the Richard Donner Cut of another 'Arizona basketball rules!' post? :)

Do any of those 3 teams you mentioned have any decent OOC games - played during the East Coast time period - that could sway opinion?

I'm sorry. But. Fuck the PAC 12.

Seriously though. I don't care about any of the teams. After reading the Oregon debacle I only care about UA dominating every one of these lousy programs and humiliating them in Vegas.

And then I want to drop a Cleveland Steamer on Larry Scott's chest.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the battle for second in the PAC is going to be fantastically interesting.

Don't hold your breath--and don't look back. I've known Storey personally from the Cactus Classic days, and that site has had every last opportunity to get with the fanbase.

Trust me, we're going to build it better here.

Utah plays Kansas I believe, somewhere in the midwest?

EDIT: I'm assuming "those three teams" refers to UCLA, Utah, and Stanford

Utah plays KU in Kansas City. Intriguing. If SDSU can get them at Lawrence ...

Except Utah's biggest issue last year was winning road games against even the crappiest teams. I've been patting myself on the back for a year now for saying I thought they were going to be surprisingly good last year, but even I need them to prove to me that they can do it on the road against ANYONE before I think they have a chance vs KU in Kansas City.

Utah will be the 2nd best team in the PAC.

They'll be better on the road too.

I think for sure they'll be better, I just don't know if they'll be "beat KU in a hostile environment" good. But I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do.

I know they didn't schedule hard or win roadies last year. But they will still be #2 in the PAC and a tough team to beat. Especially in 'Tah. Especially with Mr. Headset blocking TV angles.

This year we don't need the Pac to be anything special to garner a top-2 seed in the tourney.

Next year on the other hand...

We don't and we won't next year either...IMO.

I am not in the camp that says "the PAC is better if so and so is better". I really only care about us.

I root for the PAC in ooc and in the NCAA's. But deep down, I don't give a damn.

I wish I could be as confident about the '15/'16 year but I'm seeing growing pains from so much roster turnover. If we rack up a couple of unexpected losses, conference strength could be the difference between a 1/2/3 seed and a 4/5/6 seed.

Or strength of non-conference schedule.

Yeah, I get it...but I'll worry about that in a year.

BTW...trivia here...without looking name our last OOC loss...tourney aside.

Gonzaga at Key Arena in 2011. It's seared into my memory. We were just not ready for them that day.

Word. Good call.

I was on vacation in Cabo, checking my phone...we were down big early, and made a "comeback somewhat".

OOC schedule that year looks something like UNLV at home, @Gonzaga, Missouri at home I believe, & the typical preseason tournament.

The landscape of CBB changes so much every year, that I think saying "so and so" will be good/awful is hard to do with any certainty.

Thanks for all the comments and insights including the games to look forward to.

Utah @ Kansas? If they do what some say on the road and get blown out that could be really bad for reputation of the PAC12, particularly if Utah does end up being the #2 team after PAC12 play.

I'm not left too optimistic, lol.
