RR did not have a lot to work with after Stoops. He then made the most of it early. He seemed to try and go after the top end talent early on but seemed to miss on most of them. After the Fiesta, the recruiting seemed to be terrible. He left a lot of pieces but depth wasn't one of them. Some great starters moving forward but if one gets injured, it could derail everything. Depth is what gets you wins. If Tate never played this year, dont think a bowl would have been in the picture. Really not sure what other games would have been won since a few wins were close. Hopefully Sumlin can improve in this area. It may only net a win but it will be less devastating if all areas have atleast a backup who wont create big drop offs. Navy coach seemed like an ok hire but moving to that system wouldnt solve the recruiting issues that have been going on.

Stoops recruited better than RR, RR came in and won with Stoops players. RR wasn't very good after Stoops players left and it was mostly RRs players.

Stoops definitely had more NFL talent come through here, Stoops recruited ok enough, he just wasn't a good HC and most importantly Mackovic left the program on it's death bed.

Here's the 247 composite recruiting rankings:

Stoops: 2004 (41), 2005 (23), 2006 (19), 2007 (59), 2008 (27), 2009 (50), 2010 (58), 2011 (48), 2012 (48)

Rodriguez: 2012 (48), 2013 (44), 2014 (31), 2015 (43), 2016 (48), 2017 (45), 2018 (56)

Here's NFL players DRAFTED:

Stoops: 2006 (1), 2007 (4), 2008 (3), 2009 (2), 2010 (2), 2011 (3), 2012 (3), 2014 (3 we're Stoops recruits playing for RR)

Rodriguez: 2016 (2)

RR sucked at getting talent here, having slow and small guys out there is all the eyeball test you need

I always thought RR wanted to come in and win instantly and use that as a way to get a better job in 2-3. So he slacked and didn't care about recruiting, because what's the point if you're gone in a couple years.

He then tried to sell this as OKGs, which was just whatever kids wanted to come play Division 1 football instead of lower division football. Wasn't until lately he found out he wasn't getting a better job and tried bringing in Yates, others to improve recruiting

I just remember the 12 scholarship issue for the defense as the reason I said he didnt have a lot to work with. Stoops had the better classes until he stopped caring the last few years. Dont disagree at all the Stoops had the better classes at the start of his career here but not at the end.

Can we stop with the won with so and so's players Jeff Fisher? The Fiesta Bowl year was Anu at QB, Nick Wilson RB and Cayleb Jones, Samajie, Nate, Trey at WR. It's getting old as shit. Did he recruit as well as Stoops? Hell no. Not even close. Leave it at that. God that argument is annoying.

That's a startlingly close race between Stoops's last 6 classes (counting 2012 for Stoops) and RR. Lots of 40-50 with a single class around 30 mixed in.

His A&M buyout probably helped defray cost quite a bit. They did us a solid with making money much less of an issue for us.

It’s also likely total bullshit. Which brings up the question of whether any media members SHOULD acknowledge it.

From people I have talked to, it is not bullshit. May have told Ken N to mull things over, but during that whole bonanza, we were still only working with Kevin. They said they talked late into Saturday night and that was in the heart of the Ken N freak out.

It was maybe a word play by Heeke.

As Wolken said, nobody gets offered a job in college sports until they officially take it.

But I do think Scheer was used and what Scheer thinks happened and what Heeke thinks happened are way different

I assume "mitigation requirement" for buyout is the offset language? Glad we learned from aTm's mistake and included that.

If we had to push the boosters for money, and that's his deal, I'm excited to find out what we'll spend on assistants and other improvements.

Do we really have to wait that long? How about changing the regular red helmet into a silver one and making the white one more of a pearl white? I think those are up to us and not Nike at least.

Is our basketball contract with Nike different? We had the most perfect uniforms for a total of 2 seasons and then switched to our current BLAH kit.

I don't know. Texas A&M had some rough ones under Sumlin, like the one that was supposed to glow under night game lights that they wore for a noon game.
