Johnson is a 6-2, 199, receiver from Roosevelt HS, Carona, CA. Last year he had 45 catches for 789 yards and 6 TDs. Johnson was also an All-CIF sprinter. Taylor Mazzone broke down all the receivers in a video after practice last week and had this to say about Johnson:
Johnson has also been highlighted by Jeremy Springer as one of the Freshman likely to make an impact immediately on special teams. That should give him the edge to make the travel squad to Hawaii and be part of the receiver rotation.“Mental side of it, he’s been really grasping the offense very quickly. Sometimes I’m looking at while he’s taking notes, and he’s very thorough on what he’s talking about. When you speak, he listens. and that’s very nice to see a young guy already had that mindset of being professional day in and day out. So just very excited about how you can kind of comprehend the offense and understand that each week is gonna be a new game plan.”
