Cleates and gloves wont be noticeable while the shirt is an undershirt. It hits the 16-24 demographic. It gets people talking, which is what it was supposed to do. I'm indifferent about it

But, will the Bruins cover 30 at UNLV? The rebels have that new coach from high school and seemed capable last week of at least not getting blown out in every game. Just curious as I might bet that game. What do you thinK?

Curiously, at the end of the game, instead of running out the clock with a 34-point lead, UCLA instead decided to pass and hurry quickly to the line between plays. With 38 seconds left, UCLA lineman Tevita Halalilo was injured. He was on the turf for several minutes before being carted off, with a splint on his right leg. Afterward, UCLA took a knee to end the game.

Ever since Nick Pasquale died, he tries to "empty the benches" so everyone gets playing time. The announcer, which I'm sure the Times writer was watching, pointed out that they were running a hurry up offense. He was mistaking the offense, which is UCLA's normal hurry offense, to a no-huddle offense, which UCLA didn't.

If UCLA wanted to run up the score, we wouldn't have sat our first time defense, left Josh Rosen in for the forth quarter, and kicked a FG instead of taking a knee on the 20 yard line to let time run out. The analyst had to basically apologize for the announcer when they went back to the studio.

Watching the game would have given you some context. :)

Sorry for trusting the LA Times Bug. Surely you didn't think I'd be watching the Bruins while ASU was tied in the 4th quarter with an FCS team?

So what's your opinion, great to get backups into the very end of a game, or stupid to lose a highly regarded recruit at that point? I think a lot of people on this board would be pissed if RichRod did the same thing.

I am so sick of all of this manufactured controversy. If Halalilo had gotten hurt four minutes earlier, no one would have given a shit.

I think it's valuable to give second- and third-stringers real reps at the ends of blowouts.

Way better to get reps. You can't control injuries and lice game situations are invaluable. And I was surprised he wasn't RSing and didn't think he was considered highly regarded.

A four star lineman with offers from Oklahoma, The U, etc. would be the star of a class in Tucson where we have walk ons going 1 and 2 at middle linebacker.

My bad, looking through my Arizona glasses.

Notre Dame declined gameday for their game this week against Georgia tech. Going to Alabama/ole miss instead. Opens it up more for Arizona Ucla since two of the first 3 are sec games. Ucla beats byu and I'm almost positive we get it.

He's a true freshman. He was not close to seeing the field. That doesn't mean it doesn't hurt to lose him, but I was a little surprised that he was even out there rather than redshirting this year.

The Google satellite flew over the day before. For the next five years or so the Google maps/earth view of campus had the stage being constructed on the mall with a half dozen "Home Depot" rigs and buses parked nearby.

So lets call that the Google Maps curse. We don't have a Gameday curse. ;)

Well I've got two things to tell you about the UCLA match-up.

Ones good and ones bad. The good is we'll be on national TV and thats always nice for the program.

The bad news is going into NAU, Scooby is out, Gregory his back-up is now out 2-4 weeks. It now appears Gregory's back-up, a 3rd stringer in Tre Taylor who I've never heard of appearently has a bad wheel as well.

My goodness Smothers and Ware must be really bad to not even be on 3rd string depth chart.

So now I'm wondering if Rosen is going to throw for 400 yards and numerous TD's or 500 yards and numerous TD's against our depleted defense, all on national TV of course.

Showed up on campus and promptly caught mono and was confined to his room mostly. A recipe for depression? Either way, choosing to leave Josh Rosen is pretty screwy. He should just stick out the quarter at least

Even with the injuries I'm inclined to believe that our defense is better than UNLV's.

Not to mention, Turi Turi is beat the hell up as well with leg wraps and we're only 2 games in.

No bye week is going to be brutal on this team. We're going to see 4th string names we've never heard of by mid-season.

And in his first road game against a horrible Unlv team, Rosen was 22-42 with one TD and one int. He threw for 240? and change. 22-42. Ucla gets a very physical BYU team this week who will be sky high to play the gutty little Bruins.

NAu is our bye week. Scooby will be jogging by the end of this week. He's doing a ton of cardio in the pool, we will see where he is come next week. Other guys will play if ready, otherwise they will get another week to be ready. Miller could be ready by this week and if not then he will be ready for the Ucla game. Matthews will play this week as will Turituri.

School doesn't start til the 21st so if he's going to bolt, best to do it before then.

Somebody on the other site posted a theory that schools on the quarter system don't do well the first game after the quarter starts due to the change in focus the week before the game...I couldn't find any evidence of that, plus the fact you figure that a lot of times that week will be the first conference game.

FWIW UCLA lost to Utah at home last year in the game immediately following the start of class. Can't be bothered to look back further than that.

So what was the problem with Rosen, I mean the WR's? Couldn't catch the passes? I know it wasn't the QB's fault that he barely completed 50% of his passes, so what was the problem?

I dont think Rosen has meet a pass he didnt think he could complete. Some were just ill-advised, others were just dropped, and the timing on the deep passes were off. I dont think they really tried anything fancy in that game. I mean, Rosen was pulled after three and we literally emptied the benches. Neu was terrible as well, so it was just a sloppy game all around

As for Clark, if he transfers, he'll need to sit out two years without a waiver. Mora is known for not standing in the way of kids wanting to leave
