I disabled my FB account and dont do any other social media. Not plugged into the Tucson or AZ media either, so I really appreciate this site and the insight and links you guys post.

I do follow AzDesertStorm, but I usually what I find here is more valuable. Please keep it up.

I've been checking here many times a day.
Hoping for some insight from one of my BearDown brethren that attended last night's scrimmage? Thanks.

I was there but can't give many insights. It was difficult for me to follow what was happening on the field. Offensive line looked decent. Defensive line was unimpressive but most starters didn't participate last night. Not considering whatever the stats were, I thought Plummer looked more poised at QB.

From what has been relayed to me from camp observers is Cruz will get the BYU start and Wiley, the kid from Northwestern and Rocker will be the top three backs.

Lots of two TE sets and Berryhill and Cunningham have been the Most solid receivers.

Jalen Harris looks poised to finally have a great year and LB looks like it has more depth than we thought.

They are not rushing many of that freshman class so expect lots of redshirts and a year in the S&C program. Singer and Rocker might be two that play.

It’s a little thin behind Christian Young at the Viper spot. Freeburg is backing him up and behind him is two more walk ons. The two corners look like our best players (Chris Roland Wallace and Isaiah Rutherford) on defense not named Harris.

One positive I received was they felt the OLine was improved and that Carroll has coached them well. Guess we will see soon

Really appreciate it guys.

I think we have a chance to be better but the o line needs to seriously improve. Don't want to single anyone out, but one of our returning starter O lineman couldnt block for shit last year.

JB Brown should be a monster on the D line this year.

Berryhill and Cunningham can be a deadly duo if our QB can get the ball to them.

Reading what Fisch said about the QB race, he commented on not fumbling, and not getting sacked. No doubt referring to McCloud who had 1 fumble and 3 sacks during the scrimmage.

Lot of us old timers would have had fun with that.

MCCLOUD!!!!

I’ve been waiting over a decade for the Arizona football coach to open up practices and be more personable with the public. It pays off. Not sure if there has ever been so many fans at a Arizona fall scrimmage.

Now, Arizona has less than two weeks to get things in order.

So far you would have to give CJF and staff an A+ in just about every category but here comes the meat. Game planning and execution along with in game adjustments. I haven’t worried about that given his NFL experience but who knows what might happen here

To be honest, I feel like Fisch (and I hated the hiring process) has been solid in every area, but the overall sucess/failure is going to be transitioning the solid pieces into results.

His recruiting is good, fan engagement is good, but both of those don't really mean much if the results on the field don't match. Now, I don't mean right away, because the roster was (to quote Chappelle) bombed out and depleted. This year, hopefully execution and cohesiveness develop over time, then we see W/L improvement next year.

His attention to detail with all things has been great. I am looking forward to his game planning and play calling. I think we are going to be equally as excited as I think this same attention to detail will be seen

He has been practicing with the 1's, so probably a good guess.

I felt sure it was going to be McCloud, but he has been running with the 3's. Apparently he has turnover issues and not being able to throw over the middle. I imagine he will get more comfortable as time goes on, he had to finish his degree so props to him for that.

Almost 100% chance it is Cruz, Fisch should be looking hard for a QB next year. Cruz is below average and I am not sure Noah is the type of guy who can take over as a true freshman.

Cruze for the first game. Depending on how it goes, it might change for the second game.

Certainly the book is still out on Cruz but what in your evaluation makes you think he is below average?

From what I have viewed the only issue so have is that he holds the ball to long at times. He has decent arm strength, can move a little, protects the ball (at least so far from reports) and he was a Mike Leach recruit who was #2 on Wazzu’s depth chart as a true freshman

From the one practice I attended this fall and the videos I have seen, he is slow with decision making and has a severe lack in accuracy. Both of which lead to his holding on to the ball to long as you mentioned. He also did not really improve much from the Spring to the Fall which to me signifies a low ceiling. Hope I am wrong, maybe he is a gamer and working solely with the 1's will push him to the next level.

I thought he was pretty decent in intermediate routes but has struggled with the deep ball.

I do agree he holds it way to long and we will see some sacks when he could simply throw it away.

I don’t think he is our starter a year or two out but of the three I think he is the best. I think the change in systems has been a struggle for all three. I hear it’s pretty complex

I agree he is the best of the three from what I have seen, but that is far from a vote of confidence in his abilities to lead us to a winning record. QB is the most important position on the field and is probably our weakest.

Steve Rivera: Jedd Fisch press conference… and the quarterback is…playing both Gunner and Plummer. “Two is better Than one”

Yeah, not a fan. I always feel that when a HC decide to play QBs it’s primarily that the HC is being Indecisive. Now the team has to continue to split reps.

Two is not better than one, but we really don't have one, so there ya go.

It is hard for either of the two to really improve to be worthy of being the one splitting the reps. To me it was pretty clear that Plummer was not the guy, he was completing 25% of his passes to the defense and looked incapable of going through progressions. His progressions were look one way, its not there, tuck it and run up the middle.

Maybe it’s like Browns defense where he situationally puts guys in the have certain skills. You have to like Plummers feet. Who knows but I don’t sense indecision here

Sounds to me like Fisch wants to see more before picking a permanent starter, more than him intending to run a QB platoon system. Probably still Cruz's to lose.

I don't mind if they wait a few more days on this. BYU doesn't have much film on either one and now they don't know which lack of film they need to pay attention to.

Matt Scott was a better practice player, but Foles came in against Iowa I think it was and lit it up.

Beginning to wonder if it was more of a camp MVP award? Not sure I ever read that Berryhill wanted that Number. Regardless, he is a pretty good choice for wearing it

Basically it’s the offseason / camp MVP award.
