Hehr is a 5-10, 188, redshirt Sophomore safety from Fontana, WI. A walk-on, Hehr played in 7 games last year recording 3 solo tackles on special teams. He was a scout team player of the week last year, before earning his way on to the field. Hehr will likely be competing for playing time on special teams again this year, but he has already beaten the odds and played his way on to the field and could play his way into the DB rotation.

37 is the offensive play advantage we had against Boise St last year in the Fiesta Bowl. We ran 106 plays while the Broncos ran 69 for Arizona's biggest offensive play advantage of the year.

AST on 37 and Arizona.

The Wildcats ended the season with a forgettable loss to Utah in the Freedom Bowl.

Actually that game was quite memorable.

Utah had 5 first downs, 6 yards rushing, 69 yards passing, 2 interceptions, 10 punts, and still won.

Tomey ball, + 2 dropped TD passes, and a poor ST play on the intentional safety and free kick.

So Utah won with 75 yards of offense?

From Wiki:

Despite being held to less than 100 yards, Utah scored when it was needed most while Arizona dropped catches that could have gone for touchdowns and despite having the ball for 32:17 they mustered only one touchdown. Ontlwan Carter caught a touchdown pass from Dan White that culminated a 6-play, 77-yard drive late in the first quarter. Utah's defense responded back, recovering a fumble at the Arizona 6. Two plays later, Charlie Brown ran in for the touchdown to make it 7–7 with 10:03 left in the second quarter. The rest of the second and the third quarter remained scoreless with both teams' defense in control. Steve McLaughlin broke the tie with a 44-yard field goal with 12:39 remaining, and a later interception gave Arizona a chance to seal the game at Utah's 20. After five plays and 18 yards, Arizona was close to scoring. But on first down, Tim Thomas dropped a pass intended for him by White. A rushing attempt on 2nd down failed. White threw a pass to a lonely Lovett in the end zone, but he dropped the pass. Arizona had to settle for a field goal by McLaughlin, who made it 13–7 with 8:05 left. After Utah failed to forward the ball into Arizona territory, the Wildcats were trapped in their own one yard line. After only gaining two yards on three plays, Arizona decided to give Utah an intentional safety rather than risk a bad punt, making it 13–9 with 4:11 left. On the ensuing free kick, Beck returned it 72 yards to the Wildcat 5. After three incompletions, Utah was facing fourth down and goal. Mike McCoy threw a desperation pass to Kevin Dyson, who caught it in the end zone to give Utah the lead with 3:34 remaining. Arizona had the ball at their 32 and needed a drive to go their way, but on their second play, Jeff Kaufusi forced a fumble out of White and Utah recovered at the 31. But with 1:47, Utah had to convert a 4th and one to run the clock out, and McCoy's pass to Rick Tucker gave them the first down and Utah ran off the rest of the clock to win their first bowl game since 1964

Deseret News:

While it may rank right up there with the greatest wins in school history, Utah's 16-13 victory over Arizona in Tuesday night's Freedom Bowl will certainly top the list as the unlikeliest win ever.
The Utes defeated the Wildcats by scoring touchdowns on two 5-yard drives, getting just five first downs in the entire game and producing only 75 yards of total offense. They watched the Wildcats drop three sure touchdown catches - two in a row on a crucial fourth-quarter series. And in the final minutes of the game, the Utes needed the heroics of pair of freshmen, from Utah no less, to pull out the unbelievable victory.

AZ Desert Storm 37 days: 37 years ago, Arizona joined the Pac-10 and played in their first Pac-10 conference game.

Fun read on Arizona's first P10 game.

From Jason Bartel's Sonoran Hot Reads at AZDS:
- Here's the school's daily practice report. Too bad for Jerrard Randall and being picked off by someone no one's heard of
Just not true. BDW premium members had heard of Carter Hehr before he surprised Bartel and intercepted a pass in practice. College football is often about the next man up and having back-ups ready all over the field.

One of the reasons for the countdown is too many people focus just on the stars, but don't appreciate the guys that are out their grinding everyday and are essential for a successful football program.

Nice job on the interceptions Carter.
