Fanene is a 6'5", 308, redshirt senior defensive lineman from Nu'uuli, American Samoa. One of the oldest players on the team, Fanene is one of only 2 players who played for the last coaching staff. He played in 10 games in 2011 as a redshirt Freshman on the defensive line making 8 tackles and forcing 1 fumble. Fanene then left for 2 years for a mission trip. In 2014, he returned to the team only playing in the first 3 games of the year without any tackles. He spent last year as an offensive lineman, but was not on the depth chart and I am not sure if he saw the field since the team has yet to update the player biographies to include last year.

This spring Fanene was moved back to the defensive line. He certainly has the size to play in the middle of the line, but will likely be a rotation player if he sees the field.
