20 Chacho Ulloa

Edited from 40 Days now that Ulloa is number 20.
Ulloa is a 6'0", 190, Freshman safety from Centennial HS, Corona, CA. Originally a Stanford commit, Ulloa decommitted in January and Arizona fought off Oregon for the ball hawk safety. Lindys (based on some unheard of writer named Gimino) rates him as one of the top recruiting sleepers of this class.

As a senior he had 51 tackles after logging 59 as a Junior and 53 as a Sophomore. Ulloa also had 6 interceptions as a Senior and forced 8 fumbles over his career with 2 recoveries. Here is what Son of a Coach had to say about Ulloa,"I liked what the coaches had to say and their plan for using me. It's a young staff with great energy and they have a bright future for sure.
"They plan to run five DBs in their base defense with three safeties. I would learn all three safety spots but they like me mostly as a boundary safety because he's the quarterback of the defense."
Ulloa is a better football player than he is an athlete. I love the way this kid plays. He is instinctive without being reckless.
He does what all good safeties do: he tackles well in space. He is a sure tackler that consistently wraps up and will lower his pad level to lay a lick on an opposing runner. He is not the downhill hitter that some other players are that come from depth, but he also is smart about his angles and plays his responsibility. If he’s a force player, he is going to make sure he does his job on the play.
He shows some ability in man coverage, although I worry about him matching up with bigger receivers. His change of direction skills make an option to line up in the nickel and be an option against smaller slot receivers.
He shows good recognition skills and instincts in zone coverage. He reads the quarterback’s eyes extremely well and puts himself in a position to make plays while also having the ball skills to finish plays.
