Solomon is a 6'2", 206, redshirt Junior quarterback from Kalihi, HI. Is it good that one of the top QBs in school history is being pushed for the starting job going into his Junior year? Absolutely, yes! The QB competition should bring out the best in Anu and prepare Dawkins if he needs to play due to an injury (or vice a versa).
Anu is on track to break almost every Arizona QB record, but it won't matter for the team unless his performance leads to victories. Everyone knows his performance dropped off last year from his spectacular Freshman year due to his struggle with injuries and, I believe, our inconsistent running game. All of Anu's stats dropped between his Freshman and Sophomore years except for 2. He brought up his completion percentage from 58% to 62% and dropped his interception rate.
An improved, healthy Anu who can fully implement our offense supported by a strong running game would mean a spectacular year for the Wildcats on offense. But first, he needs to win the starting job and then he needs to have a season unhampered by injuries especially another concussion.
12 is the number of fumbles Arizona had last year losing 10 of them. In contrast, we only forced 9 fumbles and were able to recover 5 of them.
