Do I see a comeback by UCLA.
Re: ASU vs UCLA
31-23 give up a safety. good idea or bad idea.
Re: ASU vs UCLA
Well it look like ASU get the upset win over UCLA.
Re: ASU vs UCLA
That will be the funniest play I will ever see. He carry the whole defense to the endzone. good run.
Re: ASU vs UCLA
I'm not. Only UofA fans thought the Cats would finish better than4th in the south. This team without Anu Just flat out sucks.Gladiator Cat wrote:Oh no, don't kid yourself............It's bad anyway you want to slice it.cats101 wrote:Can't look bad when you suck.Gladiator Cat wrote:This doesn't make the UofA look bad?
OK
Reality check, maybe?
I knew ucla want that good last week. They just lost to a very mediocre asu team. This UofA team is maybe the worst in the RR era.

Re: ASU vs UCLA
I agree completely. UCLA looked liked they had some good wins until you saw how the teams they beat played against other competition. We played UCLA tough (self-inflicted wounds notwithstanding)... it told us more about them than us.Gladiator Cat wrote:ASSU going to beat UCLA. I've said numerous times the Bruins are not that good. That's why our loss was so bad.
ASSU actually has a D line that can play.
Many seemed to think it was a good sign that we hung with a BCS playoff caliber team. Umm... No.
As disappointing as tonight's loss is, it should not be surprising - especially given our key injuries. We would not beat them at full strength, but certainly would have made it more competitive.
Anyone still thinking that UCLA is better than Stanford? I though they were the 3rd best team in the South... I over-estimated them.

Ucla has lost 7 times, at home as a ranked team, under Mora

Graham runs the exact same D as Casteel, but blitzes balls out 8/10 plays.CalStateTempe wrote:Thats because we are bad.
The consistency in the RR era is letting pedestrian QB's look like world-beaters.
3-3-5!

Re: ASU vs UCLA
ASU lists their D style as the 3-3-5, but the reality is they line up in that formation maybe 5% of the time. They use a Devilbacker which is basically a hybrid linebacker with his hand in the dirt playing end.wyo-cat wrote:Graham runs the exact same D as Casteel, but blitzes balls out 8/10 plays.CalStateTempe wrote:Thats because we are bad.

Re: ASU vs UCLA
The devil backer is not a lineman, so it's still a 3 DL front. He's a more athletic player that lines up on the line. We do the same with Scooby.
That's the flexibility of the 3-3-5.

Re: ASU vs UCLA
The Devilbacker is lined up almost exclusively on the line, and the rest of the line shifts over. Scooby moves pretty much all over the field. I tend to think ASU's defense is more a 4-3 or 4-2-5 with one of those DL being a LB tasked with doing the job of a DE. I guess you could even say they run a 3-4 as they have 4 players on the field that are LB's (devil, spur, will, and sam).wyo-cat wrote:The devil backer is not a lineman, so it's still a 3 DL front. It is very difficult to recruit DL for the 3-3-5, and ASU has had no problems in that regard. Are they just using their DL differently than UA?
