Congrats Salim!

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Good thing they showed that angle and not the one of Hassan.

Salim Stoudamire, Arizona - Salim Stoudamire’s legacy as an Arizona Wildcat has not diminished one bit in the decade since his graduation. A 2004-05 All-American, Stoudamire dominated NCAA and Arizona scoring and three-point shooting leaderboards throughout his career. He led the NCAA in three-point shooting with a ridiculous 50.4 percent mark (120 of 238) in his senior season that also saw him named Most Outstanding Player of the 2005 Pac-10 Tournament. He holds Wildcat records for most made three-point field goals in a game (9), in a season (120) and in a career (342). The lefty guard’s career three-point field goal percentage of .458 is second only to Steve Kerr. His career free throw shooting mark of 87.0 percent is second all-time in Wildcat history. His career marks in made free throws (388), games started (117) and minutes played (3,848) all rank in the top ten in school history. Stoudamire went on to be selected with the 31st overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He is also a member of the Arizona Ring of Honor.

Slim and Cool Hand Luke seem (to me anyway. . .) the gems of this class. . .

Salim's senior year was one of the most incredible displays of shooting. Shots like the OSU game in the tourney and the UCLA game winner were ones that I'll remember for a long, long time.

One of the most memorable individual seasons for any Wildcat. Someone on twitter posted up Lute's quote when he got mad that everyone was calling JJ Redick the best shooter in college basketball: "If (JJ Redick) hit 71 consecutive field goals, hed reach Salims field goal percentage shooting. If Redick made 53 consecutive 3-pointers, he'd tie Salim for 3-point field goal percentage. How in the world can somebody continue to go on TV and say Redick is the greatest shooter in the country?"

I remember how much Arizona fans disliked or were pissed at Salim before that season too. Many thought he was a sulker, a pain in the butt, had a shitty attitude, was extremely selfish. That was minimal his senior year.. Magical season though and he went to everyone's favorite in a short time.

Congratulations, Salim. You were a dangerous, devastating weapon, and there's very few players that can be said about with sincerity.

I don't normally address players and coaches, but in this case the player actually does read this board.

I agree about the uniforms, and I appreciate how the angle in that pic conceals Hassan.

If Salim does actually read the board, it's worth double noting that his senior year was the best display of clutch shooting I've ever seen. I've never rooted for a team on any level where I was so certain that a guy would deliver in crunch time.

Even against Illinois, where he didn't have a great shooting night, I would have tapped him for the last shot every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Highlight of the PAC 12 tournament was getting my picture with Salim after the ring of honor celebration.
