D.B. Cooper: FBI closes the books 45 years after skyjacking mystery

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/12/world/d-b ... oses-case/" target="_blank
(CNN)The last time anyone saw D.B. Cooper, he parachuted out of a Seattle-bound airplane with $200,000 in ransom strapped to his body, vanishing over the Pacific Northwest and initiating one of America's greatest manhunts.

Forty-five years later, the FBI is closing the books on this unsolved case.
"We have arrived at our conclusion today that it was just time to close the case because there isn't anything new out there," said Special Agent in Charge Frank Montoya, Jr. "There's a lot that goes into that decision but really it was just time."
The infamous hijacking that took place in 1971 became one of the bureau's "longest and most exhaustive investigations," the FBI said.
I don't remember much about this.

Actually remember it quite well. We were all hoping he got away. Some say that the $5K found by the kid was left as a ploy by the hijacker to make the FBI think he was dead.

Lots of hijackings those days. Many went to Cuba. Not sure why, Cuba locked them up.

I've seen a few documentaries about it, mostly in the 90s. Weird story for sure. I would still bet the dude died on the jump or immediately thereafter.

It wasn't Rackstraw.

Whoever it was, he wasn't the master skydiver myth makes him out to be, but he must have survived because literally nobody went missing. He was probably back at work on Monday after the long weekend, and he might have worked for Boeing.

D. B Cooper is up there, but he doesn't measure up to Drew Thompson. I mean, Drew Thompson shot Theo Tonin, faked his own death in spectacular fashion, pushed a guy out of an airplane while he was flying it, parachuted into Harlan county with enough coke and cash to jumpstart the economy of small country, and then he had the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once, but two times! He spent a couple days riding around with the Marshals while they were looking for him, and then he ran off with a hooker half his age. That's some badass shit.

D.B Cooper is T.O. Drew "Goddamn" Thompson is Jerry Rice.
